Damn, that’s a lot of questions on daytime running lights. I am glad my Lightning doesn’t have any daytime running lights. It does have some nice fog lights which can only be used with low beam and not high beam.
When my lights are turned on I usually run the fogs as well since it helps to provide more light on my path which equates to a bit more safety for me while not really affecting oncoming traffic.
The only issue I would have with oncoming vehicles and lights are the morons that always run with their high beams on and/or the morons that can’t seem to have their head lights adjusted correctly. That is when I wish I had some 10,000,000 candlepower lights to permanently blind the idiot in the oncoming car, thus no one else would ever have to deal with them. Of course when you went to blind them you have to be strategic. In other words you don’t hit the candlepower lights until they are just about even with your front bumper. It would be like a major Rock concert light show, they would not be able to see and would most likely end up in the ditch on the side of the road, so sad, too bad…

Of course they would think they were at a Rock concert because just as they were being blinded while passing me they would hear AC/DC Highway to Hell cranked way up on my stereo…
I would also love to install some 10,000,000 candlepower lights in the back of the truck for other morons who love to run their high beams right behind you, and thus permanently blind them as well…
Since mounting 10,000,000 candlepower lights anywhere on my Lightning would look stupid I have come up with a few methods to deal with such morons as follows:
Idiots in oncoming vehicles that don’t turn their high beams off I simply swerve into their lane numerous times to freak them out, its fun for me and I am sure scary for them.

For the idiots that love to run high beams behind me I simply slam on the brakes until they are about 10 feet from my truck and then smash the peddle to the floor, again this is a blast for me (love that supercharge whine ) and I am sure puts the other driver behind me in a really pissy mood since they slam their brakes on for dear life, have very limited vision due to the massive smoke cloud of burnt rubber, and then have absolutely no chance of ever catching up with me, gotta love the supercharger power to make people pissy.

Many thanks for the comments much apreciatedFrom all indications DRL will be arriving in the U.S.A in 2005 and 2006
Encourage people to start asking questions in the survey
Of the Rule makers with the D.O.T and the NTSHA
To ensure they know of some of the problems we are experiencing with the experimentation
Of DRL in Canada and the Failure of establishing one standard
for vehicle builders to follow.
Have a very nice weekend

selecting lighting for a vehicle
Its been written that during 2005 and 2006 most of the vehicles delivered to the U.S.A will meet the requirements set by the NTSHA and The D.O.T for Daytime running lamps as was set into laws in CanadaAll the best and we hope that the implimentation will be monitored for constants of standards
