Recall for 2000's? might have your '01 checked too

I was talking to my Gen.Cont.Supervisor who's building my new home. He's a Ford owner and had a 2001 go up in flames after it was sitting in his drive for 9 hours. Might have it checked just in case.

List of affected vehicles per 05S28

Cuautitlan Assembly Plant; '00 F150s built from February 3, 2000 through August 26, 2000.

Kansas City Assembly Plant; '00 F150s built from April 27, 1999 through August 7, 2000.

Norfolk Assembly Plant; '00 F150s built from April 20, 1999 through August 5, 2000.

Ontario Assembly Plant; '00 F150s built from May 3, 1999 through October 17, 2000.

Kansas City Assembly Plant; '01 F150 Supercrews built from September 11, 1999 through August 7, 2000.

Michigan Truck Plant; '00 Expeditions and Navigators built from March 30, 1999 through August 7, 2000.

OASIS information has been updated to list any affected vehicles. If you haven't received the letter yet and you're curious, shoot me a VIN via E-mail or post it here and I can check and see. And all dealers are doing in the time being is disconnecting the brake pressure deactivator switch on the master cylinder, taping the connector off and securing it with a zip tie until parts are gathered up to repair the 700,000-something units out there.

RP has been busy rounding up all the recall threads and putting them in the recall forum.

Seems like the only people who don't know about it all seem to post a new thread as soon as they find out.

An easy way to find out if your truck is involved in the recall, go to this web site-Ford Recall Information-enter your VIN and it will search for any outstanding recalls on your vehicle. I had my switch disconnected yesterday at the dealership, it only took them about 10 minutes. They are saying that the parts won't be available until April so no cruise control until then but I guess that's preferable to a burned out truck!

Quintin, these dates don't make any sense.
Most of these plants didn't start making 2000 models until July of 1999.

and 2001 Supercrews built from March 1999 through August 2000?

Don't shoot the messenger, that's straight from Ford's official dealer bulletin for the recall. Never said Ford made any sense, did I?

I knew about the recall a while back. I just thought it was a piece of info that should be bought up. Now to find that burn ointment again.
