All good points.

As far as looks, some say "bland or plain"...to me it looks professional. As if you would see people wearing a suit driving it (I know, I'm weird). It isnt an ugly car by all means, an ugly car would be one of those Scion's that look like a matchbox. Thats ugly.

HP.....to me a vechicle that isn't "sporty" doesnt need 300HP. The most important thing in a car like this is .... comfort. I want a comfortable ride when on a long drive.

I am thinking of jumping in one NOW, while the price is good. Who's to say that next year the price isnt gonna be out of my range? I would prolly kick myself in the **** if I missed a chance at getting a great car.

I drove the car, true it's no Dodge Viper, Corvette, or even a Caddie, but it is still pretty quick......Salesman told me, "dont worry, put that peddle down". When I did, it lit up. the engine was loud, other then that, I was a movin.

First time you drive a CVT is very strange. Floor it and the motor revs instantly to redline and stays there, while the car accelerates. They call it "motorboating" and it's like you're in a car with a massively slipping automatic.

Audi actually programs-in 6 "gears" to their CVT so that the revs rise and fall in Sport/manual mode, because people thought it was too wierd otherwise. Sort of defeats the purpose of a CVT, though...

The new 500 seems like a very nice and classy vehicle despite not offering much excitement visually or in performance. It is without a doubt a step up from the old Taurus. For the same money though, I think I'd take a 300C (even if it is a Chysler)

I've also been told that the new 500 is basically a Volvo. How does that work? Did Ford have to buy rights or something?

Ford either owns Volvo, or owns controlling stake in Volvo- I can't remember.

Ford Brands:

Ford
Lincoln
Mercury
Mazda
Volvo
Jaguar
Land Rover
Aston Martin

Ford bought Volvo car division from Volvo Corp. They have nothing to do with the heavy trucks (just like GM has nothing to do with Saab aerospace)

500 is on a Volvo platform. Engine, Suspension, tranny, interior are Ford.

Just like the Fusion is Mazda6 platform. Its still 95% Ford design.
