Truck Insurance went up...WTF??

So I was all excited when I got my truck last year and found out that my insurance was $958 for the entire year. I just got my new policy in the mail today and it went up to $1904.00 a year. A $1000 increase...thats insane. No tickets, points, violations..nothing. I read and compared last year and this years policy and all the coverage is the same. Why in the hell would it increase that much in one year? and why wouldnt they call me and tell me or at least send me a letter? This is BS, im gonna call them tomorrow and if they dont do anything im changing companies. I cant believe it. Ive been with the same place for about 8 years.

I have USAA.(1800 531 0160) If you have a connection to the military then you can go with them. I pay $90 a month for full maxed out coverage on the truck and stang with only a $100 deductible. I have points on my license also.

OT:
Dzervt,
Are you like redneck trailer trash and going to leave you Christmas lights up all year.

Yup, they are saying up until June, or whenever the hell Michigan thaws out. It's to cold to take the lights of my double-wide.

Do you have to be active duty now to get insurance thru them? Ive been out about 10 years now.

And yes, D plans on leaving it up along with the decorations in his house until June....(Dont ask)

Unfortunately I don't think you are eligible for USAA. You have to be active duty, a former spouse or an adult child of a USAA member to be eligible. I could be wrong, I'd call and make sure because if you are eligible they are a great deal. Here's a contact number for them 1-800-365-8722.

I agree, I think you may have had to gotten it while you were in the Military, but I could be wrong. I got it while I was in and I have been out about 4 years and I kept it of course due to the good rates. Mine is about 400 every six months with a 100 dedectable, not trying to rub it in or anything though........

But they have changed the way they do business over the past few years too, so check them out.

Car insurance companies now check your credit report. If you blow off some credit card bills, or write a bad check somewhere, your credit history will go to ****, and the car insurance companies will raise your rates.

If you haven't had any violations, I'd check your credit report.

Nice, huh?

That sucks. I didn't know that they base your rates on your credit history as well. That could be one reason why my rate was so low, I thought it was because of the mileage that I drive my truck each year. Geico asked how many miles per year I put on my truck. I told them about 7K/yr.
