Burt, thanks for clearing that up, it was sounding like "blame the welfare system, not the recipients" (and yes, I realize one could make arguements for that, but I'm not buying!) I feel much better that I realize you are still on track, and will sleep better tonight!

Here this should settle everything...

Do I need to post pix of the GF's Honda too? That's it on the other side of my old FORD TRUCK, which is on the other side of my Nissan...

PS, why does everyone have to keep bringing Kerry in to this? Well, uh, um... hey, Kerry couldn't do any better, uh, hey Kerry didn't win... So what...

BTW, your fancy outfits, and plane tickets don't do much for the average joe in this country... but have fun anyway...

First that is SWEET!!!!!

Second, as rscoleman stated, which is correct, his money and all the people who will be in Washington will give back and get something in return. Yes, their money does go to the average Joe because it is the average Joe working at the hotels, restaurants etc. It pays their salary and keeps them employed…

There is going to be a lot of money dropped in Washington and the average Joe is happy…

Thanks!

and alright! Fine, maybe he was sorta right about the spending issue... But that's still all beside the point. I didn't start this thread about the economy or Sadam or Indonesia or John Kerry. It just seems to me that this is such a big overdone party to say, "Hey, I'm still here". When there is so much crap going on. I'm not blaming the crap on anyone right now.

Bush was even warned/asked/suggested/told/insert word of choice here, by other republicans that such an event at a time of war is not precedented... and not a good idea. I just think it's in poor taste. That's my opinion I'll shut up about it now. It's kinda gotten out of hand... I probably shouldn't have said anything in the first place.

Now, on to more important things like Chevy's...

I may only be 20, but...

I think Iraq is a lot like Vietnam. The cause may be in good intentions, our results may be unquestionable; however, without the majority of popular support, this war will never be anything less than a touchy subject. In this era of modern warfare where leaders can press buttons and wipe out countries, no one likes to hear of casualties or loss of troops.

One thing remains though. Even though we cannot agree why we are there, we're there now and we are in such a position that we cannot just withdraw. This is something that we HAVE to stay in if we expect to gain any positive results of our actions thus far. It's stay longer this time and do things right, or return in another 10 years to put a band-aid on things AGAIN.

With that said, support our troops. Pray for them. (Not even sure I can say that without offending someone anymore.)

Don't turn their efforts and actions into a waste by demanding withdrawl now. None of them were trained for nation-building, and they're doing the best damn job they can. It is still very unstable, and the average Joe Soldier does what he can to help. But he's trained to fight. Sure, there are sub-specialties within the Army, but each soldier is trained to fight. Boot-Camp isn't the first thing you go through for no reason at all.

The last two nations that we did any significant nation-building ended up being the second and third most powerful (economically) countries in the world - Japan and Germany. In time, Iraq will surely follow with it's abundant oil resources. They have more going for them in terms of raw resources than Germany OR Japan had following WWII.

Just my $.02

Very well written post fleas, for a young fellow of 20, I'm extremely impressed with your grasp of the world and your ability to articulate your opinions.

Right on man, keep on keepin' on.

closer, don't agree with your politics, but here's a brew for the camino

A friend of mine has two of them, one's a beater, and the other he's starting to restore. Also, there were these two sisters I used to 'date' (not at the same time though) that drove around in one. Ah, El Camino Memories...

what would really complete that thing is a corduroy interior...

Thanks for agreeing to disagree... and the brew...

I would have to say Flea summed it up best though. I would say I agree very much with his statement. I would never shun a soldier that is doing his job, regardless of the reason he/she is there... and regardless of what some might think, I don't HATE the President. I just don't like the way he does things, but it's those 20 somethings in Iraq (and countless thousands before them) that have given me that right, and yes, I thank GOD (be offended if you will) for that!

Funny you should mention that. My '71 had black corduroy door panels!

Going to Nova Scotia this summer, probably July, which always includes a stop in NH up and down. If we do this on the way back I can bring you a fine slab of Canadian beef. (after the Mad cow scare has died down, of course)

We will have the waitress provide photo evidence that the debt has been paid.

Are you kidding me? Money for tsunami victims???? Indonesia has already told us they do not need nor want our help and to leave their country. The tsunami was nature's own way of population control.

The majority of the money spent is from private donations.

This is America, the greatest most wealthy country in the WORLD!!! We do things a little more extravagant than others, because we CAN! ( sorry for the CAPS and !, just making my point) Same reason we build such nice govt. buildings, not because they are more efficient but again: because we CAN! If you dont like it, leave it.

Another way to explain how some countries are closed minded and others are open minded is like watching cable news:

CNN – closed minded, nothing to balance the propaganda.
Foxnews – open minded, fair and balanced…
Im sorry, but i feel I must disagree. As much as I enjoy watching fox news as opposed to the Communist News Network. I dont belive FOX News is Fair or Balanced they are just right!
