The other day, I was in my truck and the digital thermometer on the dash said -31*F. Yesterday we had windchills between -50* and -60*F.
Like you said, the truck makes some funny noises, but starts right up. Luckily, this is my last winter here....the truck and I are going to Italy.

Hey DIRTY I know what your going thru. I spent three years in that hell whole. Damn it was cold there. I remember driving jammers from the flight line back to my shop. The MMS (or whatever there called now) building. We would have to change drivers 3 or 4 times before we got back so nobody would get frost bite. Man that brings back memories, I remember flying down that main highway from base to town all the time. I went down it at 140mph one day. Not the smartest thing I ever did, but I did it. That was in my 89 mustang 5.0 LX. Well good luck with the cold. Stay warm and just think Italy, you'll be there before you know it.

That's cool. I did 140mph on 83 a time or two, also. That was in my '97 Mustang Cobra. I hit the speed governer in the F-150 at a little over 100mph on 83. Smooth and quiet as hell. When were you here? I've been here since '96. I work on the flightline, too. E&E shop.
83, thats it. I couldnt remember the route number last night.
I was there a while ago. It was my first assignment out of basic. I was there from 88 to 91 and then went to Europe for 3 years. It would be pretty neat to see what that place looks like now. I remember we built a RC car race track outside of the shop. I was in the big shop, if you were looking at the flightline from base, the shop was all the way to your right, but it wasnt on the flightline. It was just off of it. It was pretty big. It can hold a B-52 in there with plenty of room for other stuff. Anyway, on the back side of that was where we built the little race track. Ahh the good ol'days.

This was my first assignment out of basic, too. I will be here 8 years and 10 months before I leave for Italy. I'm sure there are still ppl here that were here back when you were here. Did you know Mark Lorenz, Sgt's Nice, Huffsmith, Roningen, Bailey(female), Kerzman,? That's all I can think of right now from the Flightline that have been here forever or came back.
Yeh man...dock 7. Wow your killin me with the memories here. Sgt. Bailey sounds familiar but none of the others do. Like I said, it was a while ago. Is the club still there? I remember going there almost every weekend. For such a desolate place we had such a great time there. I remember I had two rooms side by side in the dorm that shared bathrooms. So I set one up as the bedroom and the other as a living room and party place. It was pretty cool.I was in the MMS dorm right across the parking lot from the chow hall. Is there a B-52 there with OPUS painted on it? or one that has a line drawing of a girls face kissing a bomb and it says kiss of death on it? My friends painted those while we were there.

You had two rooms to yourself? Wow, that's nice. That dorm is still there. All of the Nose art has been redone in the past few years. A few kept the same theme, but most were totally changed.
I was in the 5th Maintenance Sq. when I got here, then went to the 23rd Bomb Sq, which then changed to the 23rd Aircraft Maintenance Unit, which is now the 5th Aircraft Maintenance Sq.

Wow, pretty cool. The enlisted club had nothing in the basement when I was there. And your right, the service sucked back then also, except one of my buddies was a bar tender at the club, so that helped out a lot. I heard they changed to the 23rd. It was the 5th Munitions Maintenance Squadron when I was there. Oh about the dorm room, my dorm chief was really cool, and it was at a time when a lot of new guys were coming in and I told him I didnt want a roomate if at all possible, so me and a buddy got the rooms next to each other, since we each had our own room, we split them up like I said before. So i still had a roomate but at least we were friends from basic and then worked in the same shop. Keep warm up there man. I remember those real cold days and its not fun. Do you have your truck plugged in??
