Roush F-150 On Trucks Tv Show.

Did anybody see them test the Roush F-150 today on the Trucks t.v show? This was the new f-150 body style and was a king cab, it was a SAAAWEEET looking truck. The truck put out 405hp with the help of a supercharger. While they were doing the Roush test the host say's ( And for you guy's who thought that the Ford Lightning was Ford's benchmark high hp truck, well Ford has CANCELLED THE LIGHTNING IT'S GONE!!) While they was talking about the Lightning it was showing when it was showcased on the show last year, and at the end it faded out with a shot of the Lightning doing a big burnout and then on the screen came up"THE END"!! My ? is, if Roush can put together a high H.P 150 in the new body style, why in the heck can't good 'ol FORD??

He did say that it was difficult to make the BIG truck handle and that's where SVT had issues.. They can't make that fat truck handle. If you're a straight line guy and just want big HP. Just put a whipple on, big tires and a body kit. But it won't be a Lightning. SVT couldn't do a cost effective solution with the new platform. And at 4000 units per year, they can't make money either.

I used to see Roush F-150's in this area all the time. Deion Sanders had one too. I was at Middlekauf Ford when he took delivery circa 1999.

Once the Lightning hit the road, I started seeing less Roush's.

What I liked about the Roush was that it was avail in S'Cab. Something Ford should have offered as a packed on the flarside supercabs.. with the L.

Ford may (read: should) bring the LIghtning back. Being slower than the Ram SRT-10 won't mean less sales. The Mustang still outsold the F-body cars from GM, and the Trans Am & Z-28 had been eating the Mustang GT & Cobra's lunch from 1990 - 2002. (In factory trim).

If you build it ford (The L) they will come...

Ford didn't kill the L, just postponed the next version. They also scrapped the SVT Focus for now so they could pour all the resources into the new Cobra.

In the mean time, you can build your own next-gen lighting for a crapload less than 40K from Roush, and outperform it.

Don't forget Ford is still struggling with the finances and just pulling out... the money spigot for the cool stuff (ie, new engine/tranny developement, SVT, etc...) isn't on again. SVT & Co. only get scraps. Hell, they blew a few BILLION to delevlope the new F150, and have a ton of other new releases... give it time & SVT will be back and kick the snot out of SRT junk...

It's really hard to knock DC when they will soon have 10 very successful vehicles in their showrooms and SVT isn't even in the game. Heck, in most consumer's minds SVT doesn't even exist. I'm sure you have had people look at you blankly when you say S V T Lightning! What!! SVT=great vehicles but total failure from a marketing standpoint. That what you get when you run a division on a shoe String budget.

DC is now showing Ford how it's done!

Yeah, but if your starting with junk, the end result is junk... The only vehicles they've produced worth a darn in my eyes are the SRT-10 & New 300C they souped up. The Neon was good work... but its still Neon...
