I checked a few weeks ago (same place) it is now woth $18,000.

It currently has about 24,000 miles.

(IT"S GOING UP IN VALUE)
Supply and demand is a goooood thing. Seems when they stop building something and others are blowing them up or wreaking them it helps drive the values up…

Well think everyone is right about the trade in. The dealership will NOT lose money on the deal! They will Not give hime full value probabley won't even give him full trade in value! Thier leverage they will try to use is probabley something like....This is a Dodge dealership, we wont beable to sale a Ford. We will have to take it to auction and probabley lose our butts at this high of a price. Thats the most we are able to lose on this, so take it or leave it.

Then if he takes it, the next week it will be on thier lot for 25% above the retail.

But only he can make that decision so try not to laugh to hard at him if he does trade it in to the dealer.

LOL I have an 81 Trans am "Smokey and the Bandit body style" mine is white, I bought it almost 12 years ago with 78,xxx miles on it for $2000 in fair condition and everyone thought I was crazy at the time. Now it has 98,XXX miles and paint is cracked faded, and interior is not so good. Now they all want it and many have offered 5X what I gave, that's $10,000+! Yet I will keep it as it is in line to get a complete restore. They will want it more then! Ahhh the crazy man says no sale!

Smokey and the Bandit did wonders for me if I were to sale it! Since it came out everyone thought that these cars could run down the river, jump dirt banks, do power slides, etc. and keep going. Not quit as many left on the road now. LOL

I love it! It was one of my fantasy cars since I was a kid probabley 6 or 7 yrs old. I had posters of it all over my room, a bed spread that looked like a red "81" TA, Shirts, hats, all sorts of accessories key chains etc. Thats why when I found this one in fair shape it didn't bother me to pay while everyone critisized me for it. My grandpa helped me buy it "He paid for most of it for my 18th B-Day" and work on it, now he is gone so thinking it probabley has a home from now on!
