put the first notch in my bumper today (pics)

ok so first off this is not going to be as good as i thought since i just found out that i can only add 3 pics.

so anyways a buddy of mine decided to go trail riding in his 2wd
jeep cherokee on new years eve and i get a call new years day
saying he is stuck. so being the good friend i am i go help.

jeep when i got there

after the first small chain breaks (notice the d/s mirror is a lot closer to the water and there is a lot more water in the cab)

after about 30 min of waiting on another chain
Victory

like i said i have more pics but i think i got the best three.

so in conclusion i was a very proud owner of a F150 4x4 today!

The water looks a lot less deep to his right than where he decided to go through it. I hope you made fun of him the whole time you were there. A friend never lets a friend live crap like this down. Ever!

Aint that the truth.

Where were you? I see the Arkansas tag, looks like the south-west part of the state. Did he buy ALL of the beer that night??

I hate pulling with chains. Too darn hard on the vehicles and too easy to mess something up. I much prefer tow straps because they stretch just a little bit. The 'rubber band' effect is very effective for getting trucks moving without busting or bending my hitch or the stuck vehicle's bumper. You can get a tiny bit of a rolling start and let your momentum and the strap pull the other truck out instead of slamming against a taut chain.

Oh well, just my two cents. Glad you got him out and I'm glad nobody got hurt when the first chain broke.

I agree with RockyJSquirrel, a broken chain can take out a windshield or the person sitting in the bed. Get yourself a good tug strap.

Safety first, then a good laugh and a beer with the buddy who got stuck.

OE: it did start and when i left the only problem he had besides water, was a busted radiator hose

Odin: he had already been through the shallow side and when he came back through he said he slid off into the deeper side?

Wookie: he was about 10 miles NE of texarkana around Genoa

Rocky,Riley: i havent bought anything to put in my truck yet, chains were the only thing he had. But yall are right i need to buy a strap.

Ford Lariat: i was very happy, thats the pic i put as my background

Glad you photo-documented it... now you can permanently hold it over your buddy's head. LOL! I think he's going to be buying the next few rounds for a long time to come...

Great pics... great story!
