Ford: DO NOT DRIVE THE GT UNDER ANY CONDITIONS

For what it's worth, this is not uncommon. This happens all the time with other models of Fords as well, you just don't hear about it unless it's a high profile car. BON just likes to turn these issues into a big deal and cause huge panics and contraversy. It's also not unexpected for a brand new car design to have issues like this. Hell, GM and Chrysler have had recalls for wheels cracking and breaking off the cars

Sal -
Although not uncommon, that doesn't make it right. How sad is it that our expectations have been lowered to the point where we expect crap like this.
That said, even if we are to be accepting of such sloppiness on lower priced cars that are mass produced, having shelled out 200 - 500 K (depending on who you believe) (150K if you were "fortunate" enough to pay list) I know that I'd be more than pretty upset with a "don't drive under any circumstances" warning and, to add insult to injury, to be told that
"...replacement parts should be available to dealers by February 1st."
That means - at the very least - your new supercar is sitting in the garage for a month and a half. What it also means is that (translation: what it really means) is that it's going to be sitting there, unusable, for longer than that.
For a car that is hand built, under the most special of circumstances, where everything should have been meticulously observed, checked, and rechecked, and for something so important to a company's image, to have these problems and be in these circumstances, is unacceptable.
Personally . . . if I were Bill Ford, I'd be leaving some carnage around the place.

Keep in mind that this being as expensive at it is they cannot build thousands of them and let engineers and management drive them for months to work out all the bugs. When we built the new F-150's, they built thousands and put them through the paces and then junked them all. This cannot be done with a car that costs 150,000.
