My parents are getting a divorce and I am not sure what their financial situation is. By saying I am not sure, I mean that I am sure that it is not good, but I am not sure how bad it may be.

My truck is in my father's name and I need to know if I would be better off buying it from him with a used car loan or continuing to pay it off under his name.

Any advice is appreciated.

 

I'm not expert, but I have to say that you (and he) have to be better off if you buy the truck from him. That sucks, I remember when my folks split when I was in school. I remember my Dad told me that at least when you have nothing it makes it easier to split it up.

 

I'm sorry for your situation. Most marriages today end in divorce.

If I was your dad, I would either sell it to you as a "gift" or, if there aren't many payments left, maybe you and your dad could work out an agreement.
