Electrical fires caused by Cruise Control???

NOTE: A copy of this thread is also posted in the Electrical Systems section.

A friend of mine was telling me about a report he heard or read about Ford trucks catching fire after being shut down. Several were parked in garages and a few homes were lost from the fire.
The only common thing between the fires was the fact that each owner had been using the cruise control prior to parking the vehicle.
My friend suggested I manually turn off the cruise control prior to shutting off the ignition.

Anyone else hear about this?????

Thanks dzervit.

And yes, I have heard of Google.
Actually I use Metacrawler which uses all available search engines, Google included.

I came here to see if anyone before me posted or asked the same question. And since I didin't find but one post on fires I thought I'd ask about it in case others may be interested or hadn't heard about it.

Funny, I see you drive a Renault Fuego. Fuego means Fire.

Dzervit has been pretty cranky lately. I'm guessing that as an angry, hateful, disillusioned, bitter, heartless monster all the joy and happiness associated with Christmas time actually causes him pain. Either that or he has a thorn in his paw.

I'm actually much nicer 'round the holidays. Even all the holiday cheer gets to a grouch like me. Hell, I even decorated my sig... since I didn't put up a tree or decorate the house.

The relentless onslaught of posts that require 30 seconds of searching kill me... it's like my users "I can't login, I'll call D and demand an answer".

My first post wasn't a flame per'se, but a little poking fun that's all. You'll know when I'm flamin'...

I post on five different message boards and run into all kinds of people. Two of them have members from 8 different countries. The diversity in cultures, attitude, and thinking is "interesting" to say the least. But I will say this, we all find a way to get along and having a common interest helps.

I'm with you Iggy. I didn't see your post as looking for stories about this problem. It was much more about alerting anyone unaware of it and going right to the source--F-150 owners--about their possible experiences.

dzervit,

My retractable coffee cup holder is broken. What shall I do?
to a fellow tech support guy.

At least it seem's limited to early 2000 models and not the new ones.

Switch hands.
Glad I could help.

Your right. I had just found out about it so I thought I'd check here to see if anyone else posted this. I didn't find anything so I did. And I found the problem isn't really new, it's been happening for a while. In fact I am surprised there isn't much more about it. Lets hope Ford fins the fault and corrects it.
