After 1992- I could not see myself getting a Camaro. I kept waiting on it to grow on me- it never did- although performance wise, the Camaro put its foot way up Mustang's butt- if I were in the market- I'd still have gotten the Stang- and lived with the fact that I couldn't touch a V-8 F-body (Z-28, Formula or Trans Am) with a 5.7L after the 1990 IROC-Z 5.7 Auto. I was "this" close to buyign it at Watson Chevy at the Tucson Auto Mall for $14,000. I didn't get it because I couldn't stomach the prospect of buying my car, and leaving it on base indefinitely- as we departed for Desert Storm the following week. That was the last year of the IROC.
I did fall in love with the RS- V8, but performance wise- it was a joke by todays standards. (5.0L 305, with 170 HP, and 225 lb/ft.)
Whereas the more powerful (But less attractive (See huge wing) Z-28 had 205 HP in 5.0 trim, and 255 with the 5.7L) Still a joke compared to today's 260 HP V-6 Altima...
But, nothing sounds like a V-8. I'd still take that same, weak 170 HP Camaro today- over my 40K plus Expedition.
