Cordless Impact Wrench?

Are they any good? Are they powerful enough to remove lug nuts? If so, whats a good brand? I am looking at the DeWalt 18V 1/2" Impact Wrench - DW059.

this will probably get a better more answers in GD.

That being said, these things are awfully expensive and a complete waste. If you need that much torque, put down the cordless and pit up a corded tool.

You can pick up a corded impact driver for a 1/3 of the cost of an 18v version.

It really depends what you are using it for. Day to day use it may not really be needed but to change a spare on the road it would be nice. A lot of people that race off-road use them and like them.

in Canada these things are close to $500. I can't see spending that to change tires once in a while

The unit made by Milwaukee is awsome.. Puts out just as much torque as their corded unit, and is portable... I use one at the drag strip to switch from street tires to slicks on my Mustang...

Go with the Milwaulkee. It has the most Tq of the cordless units. Only difference between it and corded, is that the battery will not go forever when you make it work hard. If by chance you already have a Milwaukee 18v drill, you can purchase the impact without the batteries and charger for much less $$$. Thats what I did as I already had the 18v drill with 2 batteries and the charger.
