My Road Trip

Hey guys,

I've always wanted to go on a cross country road trip and now I taking the first step on actually doing one: research!

I launched www.MyRoadTrip.net and am going to post all my progress on there.

I realize this is advertising so I hope the mods don't close/delete this thread, but i figured its harmless enough to post anyway. I don't intend to steal members I am not building a community, I'm just hoping people will stop by and make useful suggestions (and then leave so they don't kill my bandwith... lol just kidding)

But yea, if you have any experience or stories you want to share and help me plan my trip out (which I think will not happen until the summer of 2007) feel free: www.myroadtrip.net

thanks,
--Russ :santa:

Having a good vehicle that you trust and has been thoroughly maintained is a biggie. I have taken several trips in my '94 Ranger, most recent was from Orlando to Colorado Springs and back in September. 4000 miles round trip. Take half as many clothes and twice as much money as you think you will need. A credit card or two will soothe your mind as well, one for gas/ travel expenses and one strictly for emergencies ($1K credit or better available for towing, repairs, rental car, etc.). I did this and it left my cash for fun stuff and casual expenses (and FOOD).

I enjoy eating up the miles on the interstate but try to force yourself to veer off the superslab and do a little cruising in order to soak up the local sights and flavors.

yup, good advice!

taking the credit cards on the road with me would hardly be the problem, its paying the statement at the end of the month that I'm not looking forward to, lol

but yea, thats the idea... I want to plan everything down to the tolls along the way... plus have a few alternate route plans in case i encounter rain or heavy traffic.

This sounds interesting, i just retired from my second job. 22 years in Air Force and 10 in an express over night service company. I plan on doing lots of road trips soon and think this has some possibilities. Near future is going to be mostly here in Montana but plan on a trip to ohio next spring, good luck

The Alaska-Canada (AL-CAN) highway. Drove up in 92 and back down in 96. Always said that if I won the lottery I'd buy a motorhome and take 3 months to travel the AlCan again. One word-SPECTACULAR.
