demo vehicles

What do you guys think about dealership "demo" vehicles. A friend who heard about my wreck was telling me about a demo 2004 eddie bauer loaded expedition stickered at 42 for 29k. I havent found out yet if that includes Ford's 4000 cashback offer but if not....thats seemingly a tempting deal.

I see the pros...but are there any glaring cons that Id be missing other than the fact that it might have a few hundred or couple thousand miles on it already? When my truck got totaled it had 32k and was running perfectly.

Any advice would help out a lot

I almost buy a demo anything (truck, atv, snowmobile) if i can find them. any vehicule depreiciats the most with the first little bit of driving even if it is still owned by the dealership. from a purely economical standpoint, demo vehicules offer great value, plus they rarely have too many kilometers on them. The only real negative aspect I can think of when buying a demo is the fact that the engine might not have been broken in properly. When people go for test drives, everyone likes to gun the engine at least once just to "see whats she's got". If the vehicule has been taken for alot of tests drives then the engine has probably been abused a bit. Im not a mechanic thouhg so i dont really know how important it is to be gentle on the engine during the break in period. Hope this helped

I also forgot to mention that even if your truck has say, 10 000 kilometers on it, since it is owned by the dealership, you should still be able to get the full warrenty ( 3yrs/60 000 km)

I prefer to buy lightly used/demo/lease return vehicles. Let someone else take the initial depreciation hit...
