With that said I think lees99f150 idea is an excellent one. Consistency is what counts in NASCAR and that is why Bush won. I am not really a fan of Bush (well depends of the definition of “bush” LMAO) but he and his team did deserve to win because they were the most consistent of any team.
He was only the most consistent in the final 10 races. If you look at the entire season, he was pretty far down the list.

Even though Rainbow Boy would have won I still like the old system better. If the main thing about racing is winning then there shouldn't be any points the person who wins the most races wins the cup.

so if car #1 wins 5 races and comes last in all the others and then car #2 wins 4 races and comes second in every other, then you think car #1 is the best?

I was tired when I wrote that last one. The point I was attemping to make but failed was that consistancy is important throughout the season. That is why I like the old point system better it is one season. With the new one it is like they are running two seasons in one year. You have the race for the chase then you actually have the chase. It's not enough to stop watching so I'll have to get used to it. I guess it'll grow on me, kind of like a fungus.

I don't like this system but if you think about it, it's just like football...

Preseason, Season, Playoffs, Superbowl(final race)
