DZERVIT;
What are you thinking. Detroit Crack Rock City!! Ron Artest fouled Wallace not that hard and Artest after the they are seperated chills at the scorer's table and then boom all heck breaks loose! I have to say those Detroit fans were the main instigators. I get home from work and see something like this, it's CRAZY!! ESPN, is saying the same thing, you get fans on the floor and its not going to be good. It boils down to players just protecting themselves. Heck there was even a chair throw by somebody.
DOn't get me wrong Artest could've just let it go but getting hit by a beer would **** me off also. Its going to be a few days to get everything straighten out. But like I said up above that was ONE CRAZY GAME.

NBA expansion team

With hockey on the shelf maybe we could get a team to join the NBA.

Marty McSorley, Ty Domi, Bob Probert, Darren Hatcher, and Tyson Nash untill Mike Danton gets out of prison.

It doesn’t matter if the crowd instigated these whine *** baby brain dead players or not. Every one of them players that touched any spectator should be banned for life from ANY and ALL sports.

Christ man these whine asses get paid HUGE amounts of money and who pays it to them? The spectators, it’s like punching your boss in the mouth. I am just tired of someone making HUGE amounts of money acting like some spoiled *** brat, they need to have their *** handed to them and the way to do that is take away any chance of every making the big bucks again in ANY sports…

I disagree.... You put 20,000 people together, and get them drunked up for the big game, and your going to have your fair share of complete idiots. Put yourself in any other situation in life, and if you threw a beer at someone or screamed out some of the comments you hear fans heckling players with, you would expect for there to be an issue. None of that would take place in any other setting in life without a fight breaking out. It's about time for fans to start being held accountable for their actions aswell instead of putting 100% of the blame and consequences on the players (who will without question have a new a-hole ripped for him by the leauge.) It's gotten to the point where fans think they can do and say anything they want with some magic invisible barrier protecting them from any and all consequences that you would normally expect in any other setting just because they are a 'fan.' Paying admission does not give anyone permission to act and behave like an idiot. I saw the 'melee' on ESPN last night at the bar, and although I did not see it close enough to know the whole story, it looked a lot like the fan got atleast partially what he deserved.

STX/98,

Damit, I have to agree with you. Yes the spectators should also be held accountable for their actions as well. However, the athlete is “supposed” to be a professional and just because someone calls you a moron or whatever gives them absolutely NO right whatsoever to go after that person and it don’t matter if a spectator throws things at you.

While those actions themselves are childish they are just that, they are not life threatening because the athlete ALWAYS has the option to leave the situation or stand back while other professionals (security) handle the situation.

Athletes should NEVER be allowed to go after, in a physical manner, any spectator period. If they do then ban them for life from all sports…

No kidding.... It's a shame when some idiot throws a beer on someone and hits the jackpot in the process. Talk about no justice....

It started when Artest got hit by somebody's beer while he was laying on the scorers table. He didn't see it coming NOR did he see who did it. If you notice in the replays, Artest gets up off the table and goes up into the crowd and starts punching a guy WITH A BEER in his hands. Unless this guy was two fisted with beer, it obviously was the wrong guy. Or the right guy if I was him. There would be a big pay day down the road.
