the excursion section is dying

I don't know if I'm the only one that has noticed, but no one has said anything in the excursion section since 10/26. What's the deal? I'm not an excursion owner, so it really isn't that gib of a deal to me, but is there a reason why no one is posting there anymore? Did everyone with an excursion go on vacation? Just wandering. BTW, the Harley section is just as bad, but a couple of people have posted there in an attempt to revive it. Same forthe other fors section.

Most excursion owners are soccer moms who have better things to do than post on internet forums.

Hey, we've got an Ex. Actually its hubby's daily driver. We got it because it can tow our race trailer. I don't know if he ever posts in there but I know I only cruise the L, Wood & GD sections.

The Excursion's days are numbered anyway. Ford will be replacing it with a stretched version of the Expedition in 2005 for the '06 model year.

The Excursion isn't a real truck anyway, for it's size the '04 tows a maximum 5000 pounds. Not very impressive considering it's based on the F250 platform. The Excursion was all about size and nothing else.

I wonder what is different in 2004? I have a 2002 and I'm pretty sure it has more towing capacity than that...

The post is dying because the truck is dying.

People who own it are getting rid of it and not many folks are buying grossly oversized vehicles that get .000001 miles per gallon these days.

You guys are right, it DOES have quite a bigger tow rating than that. The lowest rating, a 2wd with a 5.4 and 3.73 axles is rated to tow a trailer up to 6,100 pounds. The highest is rated to tow 11,000 pounds. Plus, it hauls more people than anything else, I think they ride better than new Lincolns, and they're fully capable of going just about anywhere you point them. I don't see anything wrong with the Excursion, and evidently, they don't have too many problems, or there would be more posts in their forum.
kobiashi, with a diesel, they get more competitive mileage.

Just to point out, in order for a forum to die, it must have to have been alive once. I'm not sure if the Excursion forum ever saw that much life.

When you consider the platform it shares even 11,000 LBS isn't very much. The F150 is a lighter duty platform and it will handle up to 14,000 LBS.

The Excursion was supposed to be competition for the Suburban. All Ford wanted was something bigger, that's what they thought it would take to compete.

11,000#'s is pretty damn good for a vehicle that is designed to tow that weight plus 11 passengers and all their cargo. A true Suburban killer.
