starting own business

I am considering opening up a tire business in my town. I want to be more of a warehouse than just a regular tire store. I got the idea because I am currently working at a car dealership who has so much trouble getting tires 'same day' because the nearest warehouse is too far away to do same day delivery, only next day. When customers come in to get tires replaced, they generally want it done that day and not be told to come back in a day or two. So, I figure that if I've got a warehouse in town, I could get business from all dealerships, tire shops, and other service centers that sell tires. I am looking for helpful tips/suggestions/comments about the idea and some help as to how to begin my own business from anyone but I would especially like for any one who has started their own business to chime in to get some first-hand advice. I've always had a dream to start my own business and this might be it!

Here's my piece of advise, "The customer is always right." OK, not always right, but a customer first attitude goes a long way. Good Luck!

So you wish to be a distributor? Can the # of biznazes in the area support the volume you'll need to cover the cost of the building, employees, and still put coin in your pocket? I'd imagine margins would be slim & volume is the key to success. While you may have enough demand to get by, you'll need to expand to a state or country level to make the money you want.

Two words: Business Plan. Two more: Market research. do your homework, and do lots of it. My biz sux due to lack of homework. I learned a TON from it. But before you blow your life savings to get something started, make sure it's feasible.

Best of luck to you.
