Exclamation HELP!!! Need Dealership Advice--- QUICK!!!

Hi ya'll... Now, I know I'm a girl, and I'm not sure if this is why this happened, or if it's a warning sign of an overzealous dealer... So I wanted some input from others.

There are two dealerships not far from me. One had the truck I wanted, we'd agreed on a price, but since times have been tough, I couldn't do ANY money on it until I got the money wired into my account. They wouldn't hold it (couldn't blame 'em) and it sold. When I went on line, I found a nearly identical truck at the other close dealership. I had test driven a truck there as well, but had liked the previous dealership's pricing policy ($50 over invoice then reduce by rebates from there, no arguing, just here's what you make the check out for).

The salesman from the second dealership has REGULARLY (at least twice a week) been calling and leaving messages on my home phone - when ya buyin, when ya buyin, even though I told him it would be end of month and that I wasn't seriously considering his dealership - he finally sicced his p.r. mgr on me the day the truck I'd picked out sold, so I emailed her gave her an offer on the similar truck, and she beat it by just over $100.

The salesman has been VERY pushy... but today he calls me back (I'm supposed to take delivery tomorrow) and tells me he's removing the electronic theft deterrent as a matter of protocol when he preps the vehicle. He tells me it makes the truck recognize the key and not start if someone tries to hotwire it (sounded like the SecuriLock to me). Most of my research about the vehicle is on the computer, it wasn't on - told him not to remove it then, but scratched my head b/c I thought SecuriLock was standard (it is) and what he described would be redundant with SecuriLock...

Went and checked, and of course it's standard - he's either selling me something I don't need, or he's pushing me into adding money back on to the price of the truck for something that should have already been included?

Could it just be an innocent misunderstanding? Do I tell them I've changed my mind or buy the truck there anyhow? It just left me with a really wary feeling...

Thanks if you took the time to read this and respond!!!

Hmmm, not sure of the names of the different anti-theft systems. believe it separate from the SecuriLock that you're talking about.

I went through something similiar, drove the truck, made my deal and then they tried to hard sell a anti-theft system when signing the final paperwork. Told them I didn't want the truck if they were removing it and I was walking out the door. It was the girl in the back trying to make her commission on the extra's. The GM and salesman came back into the room in a panic, explainingthat I still had the keyless entry and needed the key with the chip to start the door. Took them 30 seconds (if that much) to remove the anti-theft system, just a chip. Watched as the prep people placed it in a box filled with them, they told me hardly anyone goes for it.

Still a security system, just not as elaborate as the one they want to make more $$$ on...how much was he trying to get you for? If I remember correctly it was around $500...

Make sure, put it back on him to explain what removing the system will do. Does it still need a key with chip/programming to start? Will the lights still flash/horn go off if someone tries to break in?

I think all of the 04 F-150's have to recognize the chip in the key to start, thats why you have to keep the code that comes with the keys to get a new one if you lose a key. Getting one ground will allow you to open the door but not start the vehicle. Thats how I understand mine and I can guarantee you they didn't sell me no $500 extra BS chip. Tell him to take it out and then during delivery ask about if you lose a key. Sounds like a shady bastard to me.

If its the pats system you are talking about, where the truck wont start without the correct key, then that is standard. Its some sort of chip in the key I think and you cant disable it if you want.

I also think ford installs a very basic alarm system on every truck that they let dealerships decide if they want to turn on or not. I think it helps with their insurance or something. You can tell them to disable it and it wont cost you anything, or you can pay extra for it ad they just leave it intact.

at least thats the way I think it works.

I hate pushy sales people. Actualy I hate salesmen period

i say if you want the truck then buy the truck. Almost all sales scum are gonna find a way to cheat ya somehow someway. The fact of the matter is if the truck is what you want grab it, that's
all that counts. Aquire the vehicle then go about enjoying it, and
if the sketchy a$$ has you bugged then bring it to a different dealer when it needs things done to it, and when you get your survey that Ford sends out trash 'em in it... easy enough, yes.

id find me a new dealership. If your not comfortable with the people you are working with then why spend all that hard earned cash at their place of business. Thats promoting their crappy attitudes. Go to another dealership, tell them where the truck you want is located. They will do a dealer swap and u can deal with nicer people. Or, have them do a search for the exact truck u want and they will go get it for you. Nice and easy.
