Angry Just what ya want to come home to.

Get home from working my 12 hour midnight and pull in the drive as the little women is heading out to work.
She tells me my daughter hit a deer on her way to school. She is ok but her car, which we just bought here a month ago, is bent pretty bad.
So I turn around and head to the school to see if the car is drivable and how bad it is damaged.

I get like a 1/4 mile from the school and see where she hit the deer by the skid marks on the road. I stop and look for pieces of car and the deer. No car pieces, but here is this little deer layin in the ditch with its back legs broken tryin to crawl up the ditch bank.
As I am looking things over the cop pulls up and said a bus driver called him about the deer in the ditch.

I tell him my daughter hit it and he asks if i want the deer.
Well not being one to pass some tender venison I say sure I will keep it, but that its still way alive.
So the cop pulls his 40 cal and pops off a shot at the deer from like 10 feet away and misses. He shoots again and hits it between the eyes.

Well we complete the permit work for me to take it home while it is floppin around dying. After about 15 min the little bugger finally expires and I load it in the truck and finish goin to the school to see the damage.

Luckily it wasnt to bad, just the hood pushed down, no fluids leaking or anything bad. I talk to my daughter who starts crying cause that damn deer wrecked her new used car.

I show her the deer and she smiles in the most vengful way.
Couple teachers are out side and they come look too, one asked me if my truck is one of the new Ford, I tell him no, its a 99. He says wow it just looks so new.

So I come home and spend a few minutes guttin the deer witch is never fun when they have been hit. Hang it up to drain and grab some breakfast.

Anyway, not what I had planned when I was on my way home from work, was plannin on a little more pillow time. So does anyone know where I can get a hood for a 93 Honda Del Sol.

Sled...

Figure I will keep the tender loins and the rest should make bout 20lbs of good ol venison salami and jerky.

Good time to be road hunting them around here, rut is starting and they have been all over. Missed one by inches with the truck a couple nights ago and the wife had one run into her Exploder 4 days ago on her way to work. Lucky no damage there.

I have been lucky myself, 28 year of drivin and havent nailed one yet. Looks for wood to knock on.

Wow, that's a bummer. Another reason to move into Detroit. No deer, just bums or dealers to hit... and you don't have to stop or worry about them dying a slow death, either!

Too bad about the car, sounds like the damage wasn't extreme though so it could have been worse. I'm sure your daughter thinks its the end of the world, that whole teenage "everything is 10 times worse when it happens to me" thing ya know!! Have you found a new hood yet...hope that venison doesn't end up costing you too much.

Sounds like it will be a $300 deer.

New hood can be had for $200 and around $100 for paint.

Not to bad but sure not gettin $300 worth the jerky from that little bugger.

Told her next time go for something bigger with a nice set of antlers, at least we could get a wall decoration with it..
