Antenna Mod...
Finally have my garage completed to the point where I could put my truck in and realized that my antenna sticks up above the roof line about 8" and hits the garage door frame. Actually when I back out, the little ball catches the bottom of the garage door and pulls it down. Shortened it up by about 5" or 6". For anyone thinking about attempting this, our antennas are apparently made from kryptonite they are a bugger to cut. Used a hacksaw, but I wish I would have used my bolt cutters. I was trying to fit the little ball back onto the end when I saw a small black rubber cap on an old CB antenna in the basement. It was a perfect fit and I kind of like the way it looks. My truck finally has a roof over it's head!
I had the same problem with my antenna. My truck won't fit in our garage so we have a portable garage for it and the rounded door opening caught the antenna and jiggled it loose all the time. Since we don't have any stations here in Juneau worth listening to I just took it off and listen to CD's all the time, which I did anyhow. I kinda like the way it looks without the antenna, if I ever decide I need it again it'll be a shorter one so it isn't taller than the truck!
Congrats on the garage...wish mine had a house instead of a tent

Lees I am about 2 1/2 hours west of Harrisburg on RT 322.
BTW I did some research on here before I modded my antenna and left it above the cab about 2" so if something hits it I know to stop. I have not tried the radio to see if it has affected reception, but from what others have said, it doesn't really have a noticable affect. Here in the mountains, there are only a couple of stations that I can pick up on a regular basis and they aren't that good, so I usually listen to CDs.

I got tired of my antenna hitting the garage door also. I cut it down to about 13-14 inches, siliconed the ball back on and then dipped it in plasti-cote. Works fine down here on fm but I lost some range on the a.m. side. I only use the a.m. to listen to "Dolphin" games on my ride home from work sometimes. I'm glad the reception is not good now if you know what I mean
My grandfather was a coal miner and lived in a little town outside of Johnstown called Carpenters Park. I doubt anyone is familiar with that place though...

How do you know what products are 'matched' and what isn't?!
