Bill Cosby is alive and well
Just a quickie:
For Pat's 64th birthday I took her to a live Bill Cosby show here in Atlanta. Hard to believe he is 67 years old (although he is showing it a bit) and I first saw him oh so many years ago.
He still does pretty much the same schtick, a whole routine about his 40 plus years mariage to Camille with all the trademark scowls, frowns and rolling of the eyes when listening to her bitch.
Did the routine about buying the house for his mom, the one where she worked as a maid in her earlier life and of course the dentist bit which is I think his funniest monologue.
I think he is on a countrywide tour and if he hits your city, and if you like Cosby type entertainment, it is well worth the price of admission.
They also showed a trailer about a new Fat Albert movie which is due in December I believe.

He is definitely a well rounded businessman. I remeber the dentist & we still tease my dad about with the bit abotu dad watching the kids (dad is great... he gives us chocolate cake).
My daughter just loves his kids show Little Bill. I watched it several times with her while I was off on maternity leave & it is very cute. She even found a Little Bill book at our church rumage sale over the weekend.

The 'coz is classic...
EDIT: For the non-coz fans, do yourself a favor and listen to Bill Cosby, Himself (1983). Some of his best stuff, IMHO.

( ya he is ) I loved how he recently brought it out in the open that a lot of folks are just NOT with it and need to get it together
( and he didn't care that he was pi$$ing folks off by speaking his mind ) someone had to say it, glad he did..
His only monologue on "dad" was about his drinking problems and how he "integrated" the bars in his neighborhood (the white only bars) along with some Irish Mick buddie.
He did not speak from the bully pulpit about blacks needing to tend to their own future but then the audience was 90% white.
I very much appreciated what he did and is trying to do to get his brothers and sisters to climb out of the ghetto on their own and, amongst other things, to speak real english. While it is not politically correct to say so, I grew up in the fifties and sixties when blacks were making tremendous strides on their own to realize a better life. We lived in the south a good part of that time and had blacks working for us and we did all we could to help them put their kids through college etc. They had to make it on their own and a huge number of them did, including Cosby.
He did start off the program with a kind of rambling salute to the servicemen in Iraq but sort of got lost between the wounded, the dead and then the civilian dead. Probably just showing his age a bit.
Dzervit, I remember that Himself bit and will try to get the DVD. It is truly a classic.

Well, if you couldn't tell by my shamelessly blatant use of Ebonics in my writings, I'm a black man.

While it ruffled a lot of feathers (In the black community) to hear Bill say what he said- a lot of it was true, a lot of it needed to be said; and- some of it is not true.
While I won't bore you with the details; besides, many may not understand or agree since many on this board are not coming from where I come from; however, it's not as even a playing field as Bill's statements may lead some to believe.
Bill has been wealthy a long time, and he simply is out of touch with reality. But, I do agree that many do not take advantage of what they do have in front of them; and choose to live in poverty and/or consciously (Or subconsciously) makes choices that land them there.
I grew up poor, and even though I make six figures today, in my area I'm still poor; but as a child I had no idea we were poor. My folks took care of business and kept it invisible to us kids. But, there was still a lot that I was ignorant to as I grew up; especially college opportunities...
Bill is right, on a great many things; and I'm glad he said what he said.... Being ticked off never hurt anybody.

Nice thing about this board, only way to judge someone is by their writing. Well maybe that's the worst thing about this board too!!!!!
Hey, cia-agent, I had trouble deciding whether you were addressing BILL Murray or BILL Cosby with your out of touch comments. (ha! Easy Bill, just kidding!)
Speaking about Bill Cosby, I still remember him from the old "I SPY" days with Robert Culp.
