Thinking about selling my truck, have ?'s...

I have an '03 regular cab flareside... seemingly the least desirable configuration for most people ( I however am not most people), and lately I've been thinking about trying to lower my payment. Was considering an '04 Mustang GT. With the deals going on right now I could get one, and lower my payment, or I could sell the truck, and pay off some debt/work on my older vehicles.

I'm somewhat torn. I really like my truck, but would rather have the money to work on the older ones, or pay off my credit card, which wouldn't take too long if I wasn't making a truck payment... I know I can't quite get what I owe out of it, but I can make up the difference I think...

I guess my questions are: what do you guys think I should do, honestly, and has anyone tried to sell an '03 now that the '04's are out... Kelley Blue Book says my truck is worth something like $16.5k if I sell it myself $14.5K trade, but I've got a few goodies on the truck that I think are proably worth another $500-$1000 if I sell it... So, any advice if I do sell? and is it really worth trying to sell it...?

put an ad in the paper or the auto locator and see if you get any bites. if you do, sell it. pay off your bills then save what you pay a month now and put that in the bank. this time next year yoll have a good down payment.
easyer said than done though

Well, I was actually thinking about ebay. I've sold a couple older vehicles on there, and did pretty well, but I'm just not sure about this one. I guess I just need to try it, and see what happens... Maybe put an add here too...

if its in good shape and low miles someone who likes the old body style might be in the market for it now that the heritages are no longer being made. Give it a shot.

I'd try to refinance the truck to be able to afford the 'Stang. I had my truck paid off the truck a month before the first Mach 1 payment.

Keep the truck, get a second/third/forth job. Or just sling some crack rock, that's how we do it in the Dee-troy-T city.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and if you got kids its never to early to put them to work.

question.

will the increase in insurance offset the decrease in monthly payment?

As far as least desirable, I beg to differ. Regular cab fleetside is less desireble than flareside.

Seems most people that want a small sport truck would rather have the flareside (at least thats what I found trying to trade in my 98)

Well, if I went with the Stang I could save about $50-$70 in payments, and around $50 in gas (based on going to 87 octane vs 93 with the chip, better fuel economy, and my average monthly mileage)...

But I've pretty much talked myself out of the Mustang. If I'm going to part with the truck I'll just try to sell it. Then I can put my money towards paying off the credit card, and working on the Camino and ZX...

Also, thinking maybe I'll try to save up some, and have a nice down payment for a '05/'06 Mustang GT next year...

J-150, you're probably right about the reg. fleetside being less desirable, but still all I ever see for sale are ext cabs, and crew cabs, but then maybe there's someone out there looking for a truck like mine, and can't find one...

I really don't want to part with my truck, and really don't need to. It's just that I really want to work on one of the older vehicles, and with the truck payments that just isn't feasible...
