the Kerry campaign

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/....ap/index.html

The above is a link to an article that I found on CNN this AM and was surprised that it actually has some mild critisism of his flip flopping, not the standard fare of their usual St. Kerry stuff.

Kerry still has a tough time explaining his position on Iraq. He told radio host Don Imus on Wednesday that the United States should never have gone to war in Iraq, even though he voted for the congressional resolution authorizing it.
He said he voted that way because of the claims about weapons of mass destruction, which seemed to contradict his statement a month earlier that he would still have voted for the war even if he had known Iraq did not have any such weapons.
Anyway the aticle is interesting to me b/c it comes right out and says that the Kerry campaign plans to make another big push about how bad GWB is and not focus on building up Kerry himself.

Democrats hope a major shift will come from the debates, but his strategy in the meantime is based less on building himself up than on tearing down the president.
As many of you know, i'm not voting for either candidate so I have a sick fascination with looking in on the campaigns. This particular move underscores really well why I think that the Dems need to lose this election. The have based their entire platform on the "anyone but Bush" phenomena and have avoided as much as possible taking any real stands or providing any real plans for their alternatives. They fielded a candidate that is so suspect that they won't even focus on him, all they have left is to resort to the same old "Bush is bad" stuff that we have heard for almost a year. Do they honestly think that there is anyone who hasn't heard the "Bush is bad" message (I say heard, not listened to)? Would their time not be better spent now so close to the election telling us why they are better, outlining alternatives, promoting their candidate? I think what we are seeing here is a bunch of people who realize that their ill chosen candidate's huge load of baggage has made him so unappealing that they have no other choice but to continue to beat a dead horse about the evils of Bush. It stinks of desperation, laziness and people who are not interested in alternatives and making the country better but instead just want to be swept into power based on hatred of the other candidate to pursue an agenda that they refuse to share with the very voters that are to empower them. I again implore all of you that don't want to vote for Bush not to vote for Kerry, he and the Dems don't deserve your vote any more than Bush. As always opinions, comments and even flames are welcome and expected.

I know my last post wasn't germane to the topic but, when I saw it I thought it was pretty funny and threw it in.

I decided about a year and a half ago I wasn't voting for Bush unless he could pull a WMD out of his ***.

Don't give a crap what all the other 'intelligence' thought.
Don't care what Clinton said or Kerry said about WMD.

Bush pulled the trigger, it's his baby.
The Buck stops in that Office.

As Trump would say, "You're Fired."

Bush doesn't get my vote.
If I don't vote, it's like Bush got my vote.
If I vote for someone that can't possibly unseat Bush, it's like Bush got my vote.

I will vote for Kerry even if he shows up at the debates with his underwear on his head.
Even a flip-flooper is right half the time for a little while.

The message must be sent. You don't get to make that kind of mistake (Iraq) and still get to keep your job.

Certainly a valid point Raoul, somedays when I sit and think about it I feel that not voting for Bush is a vote for Kerry but I have to stick to my guns on this one and say none of the above. Bush may not deserve to keep his job but would you hire a guy who just showed up and said "I'm different from that other guy that you fired" and didn't tell you anything else? The opposite of wrong isn't always right. The fact that this race is close proves how crappy a candidate Kerry is. I think the Dems could have waltzed into the Whitehouse with someone with less baggage, a set of *****, and a tiny amount of charisma. Maybe there is truth to the rumor that they are throwing the election in 04 to run Hillary in 08... The devil I don't know scares me more than the devil I do know. By the way that quote was great!

That's great! The rest was pretty good too.

fatman, to not vote at all is to throw away your rights.

I believe anyone who does not vote, this goes for local or nation, does not have any weight to their opinion. You have made some great observations and have a descent view of the canidates. What a waste not to use your power of vote. If you are going third party, that is cool, but you can thank the Dems for keeping Nader off the ballot in alot of states, MI being one of them.

I dont believe that crap that a vote for Nader is a vote taken from Kerry. If Kerry where that appealing he shouldnt have to worry.

Myself, I think Nader is a nut case and would destroy the corporate business world in the US and would only force companies to move abroad to avoid his policies.

Anyway, it sure would liven up the debates if Kerry came wearing his superman undies on his head.

Sled...

I'll go and vote, too many people in the last 200 some years have fought and died to make sure that I have that right and it seems disrespectful for me not to exercise it. I'll vote irrelevant thrid party, not Nader, maybe the Libertarians. At least if Kerry came to the debate with underwear on his head he might have a perosnality.

I'm going with a write-in vote for Big D!!!

Just like every other year, I can't wait for this stupid sheet to be over with! We need laws on the books that outlaw all politcal advertisments, and make it illegal to promote your own campaign. I envision knowing nothing about the candidates other than what I review (voting records, policies, history, etc..). Give them two debates one and two weeks before the election and that's it.

I'm so %*@()@ sick of the ads, the bashing, the twisting of practically EVERY thing said.... and then there is the idiots in the media, the party leaders, the tree huggers, the vets, the poor people, the rich bastards... they ALL have to on camera and spew thier biased and worthless opinions. God I hate people.

Thus far all this election is about is how bad Bush is, and NOBODY, not even Kerry himself can answer the question "So how you gonna fix it?". His 'plans' on his website are a flippen joke. My twig and berries could have wrote that plan... Hell, I wrote most of this post using my pecker. Vote Big D, his pecker can type!

Nope, far from it. I just don't have a morgage or little financial burdens running around destroying everything I own (read: children). That leaves me with plenty of disposable income to waste on frivilous items such as vehicles & expensive electronics and gizmos. And those were $500 bras. I am still attempting to create a profitable corporation. Someday I will be uber-rich and run for president on the 'can type with his pecker' ticket.

Raoul, if that happens, Kerry will explain it like "But, before I put my underpants on my head, I didn't have them on my head"
which will, of course, let us know his true position on underpant wearing vis-a-vis the head.

Probably

I've been avoiding these discussions lately, as it's the same old crap over and over again. Someone posts something anti-Bubya or pro-Ketchup, Burt writes an essay in rebuttal, everyone joins in and round and round we go.

BTW, I completely agree with Sledd (surprise!!) and have posted threads on the subject before. If you don't vote, you have no legitimate opinion, as you are not participating in the process which determines how the nation is run for the next mandate.

If you don't like any of the choices you can always spoil your ballot. Spoiled ballots are counted and kept track of. By doing this, you are sending the message that none of them are worth the powder it would take to blow them all to hell, whle still participating in the process. The right to vote is too important to waste.

nuff said!
