Bead Locks

Why are bead lock wheels not DOT approved for road use?

There is 1 company that makes DOT legal beadlocks....

I think the only reason they aernt legal is because DOT has not written a specification for them to comply with...

Ive seen plenty of them on the street though. You got some serious off-roading to do or something?

Not that serious, just reading an article and wanted to know why I couldnt pass inspection with 35" tires on bead locks. Thanks for the info though.
