Auto 'Black Box'

I'll tell them where they can stick this black box, but it's not in my car/truck

Yeah, it's comin' down the pipe! I'd guess that years and years and years from now it will be the standard. Insurance premiums are totally out of control. Two things must happen to lower them: 1. Buy cheaper cars that are so ugly they dont' get stolen, and with a HUGE parts market & easy to repair OR 2. Get people to drive safer. You got bikers cuttin' between cars, soccer moms on their SUV power trips, people that would rather hit another car than a squirrel while tearing down sidestreets, and myself driving the Tan Terror. It's a jungle on the roads! I may not like the idea, but I understand why it's rolling out and will not be shocked when Wally calls me up and says I gotta get one.

I see you love to cause trouble...you and the bikers again...lol...oh no.

Never fear, I'm sure like with computers, there's always a way to 'get around' certain things like the black box if it's even standard issue (doubt it will be). If nothing else, you could simply disconnect it. Oops...was that unplugged?...sorry about that

I hate to say but I have been in the Commercial tracking/GPS trade for the last 5 years.

Millions of commercial trucks/police/fire/ambulances are being tracked everyday.

The company that just let me go is one of the largest in the world and they just produced a very cheap vehicle tracking device (It was recently used by the FBI to track Scott Peterson) It needs no antenna's and doesn't even need to be hard wired and it's about the size of a sleeve of 3 golf *****. As soon as the vehicle starts to move it will track location, speed, vector, and stops every 5 minutes. This data is available live via the WWW.

The insurance companies are looking at these to replace the woefully Inadequate lojack for theft prevention. BUT once they are in a few million cars/bikes/pick ups will only be a matter of time to move it over to driver behavior tracking. (Which is already widely done on the commercial side)

So my point is it's only a matter of time before everyone will have one of these.

trust me you won't just be able to unplug it.

the commercial transportation industry has helped eliminate all of the possible work arounds. I have seen all of the tricks people use to try to defeat these things and I will tell you all angles have been worked out short of smashing the unit into little bits. Which by the way will be detected within 5 minutes or less.

I am on the side of these things. Not because I worked in the industry but because I know all of the facts. Everyone on this board complains about idiot drivers and how good a driver they are. Well with these boxes you will reduce idiot drivers and if you are as good as you say you are you will have nothing to worry about.

Plus there is over 20 million private vehicles on the road so no one is going to try and track where they all are going/have been to. They will just weed out the crazy bikers and ignorant SUV soccer moms.

Think about it.

Someone could earn some extra money with this.

For $10 month, I will install your black box in my truck. Then, you can drive your truck wherever and however you like.

I figure the unit at the size of a sleeve of golf *****, should be able to fit several hundred black boxes in the bed of the truck. It might even be able to make the loan payments!

Can you imagine the tracking people. "Oh look, there is 150 cars traveling down the highway at the same time, at the same location. Must really be a traffic jam."

hehehe

If we all take off our license plates and throw them at the registry, insurance will cease to become a problem...

They wanna track my boring truck drives, I'll put 'em to sleep.

If they are so small, take it everywhere with ya:

1. Float trip
2. Bus ride
3. Six Flags
4. Plane

Sure there are more ideas.

Personally, I'd tell 'em where to put it.

Some of the new airbag systems monitor vehicle speed and G-forces over the last several seconds of run time, so they can calculate a deployment speed/rate. There has been 1 court case I'm aware of that the judge gave a warrant to have that info pulled from the airbag system.

It was used against the owner of the car. He fought it being used in court however he lost. Some companies sell the software for around $2500.00 They are in the backs of a few automotive magazines.

You sort of have it now!!

Don’t sweat the black box it’s nothing more then a IC (integrated circuit), you know them little black chips you see on circuit boards. Very easy to destroy and/or erase all information. This black box is far from being destruction proof or tamper proof…

If it becomes a problem someone somewhere will develop a simple solution to solve the problem, maybe they will call it the Zapper…
