Need some help...

I recently bought a '79 F150. Long story short it was a piece of crap and we took the seller to court and won our money back.

So now I still own the truckand can keep it, plus I will be getting my $1000 back and I need help on figuring out what to do with it.

According to the mechanic the truck needs a lot of work, mainly a new frame! But also:
All 4 ball joints
Fuel Pipe Restrictors (on both fuel fill tubes)
Battery Holddown
Horn
LR Turn Signal
RF Coil Spring Tower Bracket (Bottom anchor on frame)
Brake Lines
Variuos Emission Hoses

With that known, is there anything I should do with the truck other than sell it for parts? If for parts only, how do I go about doing it?

One idea I had was to look at a couple local vo-techs and see if they would be able to do the necessary repairs as class projects.
Has anyone ever done this? Would I still have to pay them for parts and labor?

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ebay. Don't sell for parts... you'll sell some, then be stuck with non-functioning pile of sheet in your yard. Just dump it on the first person that bites.

what do you mean it 'needs a new frame'? Is that just something you were joking about or does it need straigtning, etc. If the frame itself is ok, the other repairs dont look too bad.
What motor? 300? 302? 351? Any rust,etc? Any pics?

If the trucks motor/tranny (whole driveline) is solid, then buying some parts to fix it and giving it over to the vo-tech wouldnt be a bad idea,,,youd get a fixed truck and youd only have to pay for parts, plus if the body is straight they could puddy, sand, and paint it for you.

Selling for parts is a bad idea. If youre going to sell any of it, sell the whole truck. Trust me, been there youll have useless piles of sheet sitting around that you dont want.

more info...

the frame is rusted out, would need replaced totally. My mechanic said it is to the point that he couldn't even do patch work on it.

it has some minor rust areas but that I wasn't too concerned with.

the engine starts/runs but the battery needs a charge. it is the original 351 engine with only 78k miles.

I have pictures but nothing online...can I post them on here from my c:\ drive?

I will avoid selling for parts now for sure (I really didn't want to go that route), but if I could get it all fixed up for a good price then I might be able to handle that.

Thanks again.

Get a frame, change the body over, build it the way you want it.
