Pushing -Limit (How fast have u gone)
Mid-Ninties & Montana, July and 3am - 120 sustained in my 94 Z-28, on one run up to 145 found a doe mule deer standing still in my lane and in the time it took to find the brake pedal she'd wiggled her tail 5 times and did the most beautiful 2 step I've ever seen any female do - she stepped across the dotted line into the right lane and blurred into the night. I bought whole cases of 1000 yard stare juice after that.
Those years of "no speed limits" really had speed limited by frost heave and twitchy joint repairs, go airborne on rough road w/ air ramming under ground effects its 3000lb frisbee time and you'll swear off speed cept at the oval track - no fun landing part sideways or floating onto shoulder in a turn...
I did 128,000 miles with zero tickets / zero accidents in that '94 Camaro; but got pulled over twice standing still - only options were auto trans (B/W shut down manual production for 6 weeks) and Z-rated tires.

). All you really do is hang on for dear life. Once you start getting the RPM's high enough into the powerband, and the ram air expresses itself, it pulls LIKE A TRUCK from around 140 on upwards.... Supposedly, the manufacturer, Kawasaki, says the actual top speed for my bike is 171mph. Saw 150 indicated this weekend though...On a semi-related note, I found I topped out at 140 with a passenger on my back....
Prior to the bike, I hit 140 in my old '94 Cobra (rev. limiter).
The biggest problem with hitting those speeds frequently, is that you find the speed limit is far from acceptable......

BTW, 75 is the posted limit on I-90 now. No more 'no speed limit'... and, trust me, from experience, the Montana Highway Patrol will pull you over for 86mph...
... and that bonehead sheriff in Powell County pulled me over for 48 in a 45... (how board did this guy have to be to do that to me? surely someone was stealing a cow somewhere!).RP
I had an '88 mustang GT with a 140 speedo that was buried. The needle was pointing towards the trip odometer. Of course this was on a closed course with a professional driver.
I also made it to Daytona Beach from New Jersey in a shade under 14 hours door to door. That's over 1,000 miles and included stopping for gas 5 times and stopping to eat.

I hit the rev limiter in my first vehicle. That was my 83 f-150 with the 302 v8. I had two friends in there with me. And I was showing off because I had just bought this truck and we all were still in high school. As we where coming up on a slightly banked corner I had the speedo pegged at 100 mph, and this was on a two-lane road. I was in the left lane and I was coming up on a slower car that was in the right lane. I passed them around a banked corner doing 100+ mph and my friends were screaming like little girls. lol. They told me I missed sideswiping that car by an inch. That was when I first got my liscense at 16. In Tennessee all I had to do was to drive around a Funeral Home and back into a parking space to get my liscense. No joke.
Fastest in a car was 115 and still going, just ran out of straight stretch. That was a 71 Comet GT. Fastest in a truck is about 105, had all I have owned (9) to at least 100,with the scariest being my 78 F150. Speedometer only went to 85, but had the needle on the P in MPH. It had a tendency to float over the road joints. Very light. The Comet was solid at 115.
I've got you all beat.
Went so fast I had no idea what the speed was. Everything was a blur. It was the kind of speed that when it was all over you just felt totally exausted.
I will say this. It was on a good stretch of downhill. No passengers, no dead weight, and no modifications. And it was scary!

110 MPH in my WRX. So I guess that makes me a chicken. If that doesn't make me one, then the fact that it took my a$$ two days to 'unclench' does. Around St. louis there is just too much damn traffic and too many damn cops to speed. Apparently the top speed (bone stock) is 140ish, which I'll probably never see.
I-49 in Louisiana, somewhere between Shreveport and Alexandria. Speedo buried on a '93 Firehawk (160+). The heat coming off the floorboard around the tranny was enough to make it a very short run. About 5 miles or so. You could see forever when that road was first opened. Nice smooth pavement, too. I used to open it up through there regularly.
I've had a Lightning over 3 years now. It makes about 450 rwhp and I haven't had it over 110 or 120 yet. I guess I'm getting old or something.

I was a designated driver one night coming back from a club called "Obsessions" in Tucson. I was driving my friends 1991 Camaro RS. It was 4:30ish on a Friday morning when we left Tucson heading back to Sierra Vista/Ft. Huachuca. PT (And my work day) starts at 6:00 AM.
I'd been doing 80 - 85 (Trying to stay awake) while my drunk friends snored in unison (Amazing how sleepy that can make you), from Alvernon Way in Tucson to Exit 302. We'd just gotten on highway 90 when my less-drunk friend said; "Where are we?" I said, we just got on 90. He was like- "Man, how slow are you driving? I said 80 - 85. He was like, man- you better drive this car, or we're gonna be late for PT. It was like 05:10 AM.
He didn't have a radar detector, or anything- just faith that he'd get no tickets. All our butts would be in a sling if we were out-of-ranks, so it was time to kick it up a notch. I drove from that point to Huachuca City at speeds around 110 - 115 the whole way. The car had 140 on it, but no way was I gonna drive that fast, around those curves and popping over those hills. I slowed down through HC, then punched it to the Main Gate of FH. We pulled into the parking lot at 05:51. We ran upstairs, changed clothes, and was in formation when Top said- "Company, Atten-tion"
That was crazy, but I'm alive to talk about it!

WOW...you guys must not run from Los Angeles to Las Vegas very often...the average speed is about 90..there are plenty of cops, but they normally won't even look at you unless your around 100 or so..I went there this weekend to see the Toby Keith concert and got my wifes new Nissan Spec V up to 125...In 98 I got a Mitsubishi Eclipse up to 135...2001 coming back from Vegas in a Nissan Maxima got it up to 140 racing a Z28...he got smoked on top end. He got to about 130 quicker but I realed him in and left him in the dust in my Maxima. Those things are fast!
I think that the speed limit should be raised on freeways, because I've found that when I'm doing 120 mph..I'm not looking for another radio station or getting a drink of Mt. Dew. I'm paying very close attention to the road.
