One of the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches I've had was from the Philadelphia Truckstop, just off the Walt Whitman bridge. It tore me up though. I've been all through NJ, NY, and the northeast in general. I love the PC sandwich. Surprisingly, the best ones I ever had were from a sandwich shop, inside a mall, in Bossier City, LA. The guy learned how when he moved from Jordan to NYC. He marinated the beef in what he called his "super-sectret 'I have to kill you if I tell you' recipe." He's still top dog! This was a good 10 years ago.

Go to Pat's or Gino's. Originally from Philly myself and when I'm there visiting I always make sure to stop, at least once.

See Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house and drive by the Art Museum and see the Rocky steps.

OK OK OK...Pats it is. There all right Kobiashi, Pats was on the food channel. And I guess thats where the philly cheese steak originated. Ricks in the terminal I told you about earlier is good also, so if you cant get to Pats then try there.

And for the love of Pete, do NOT and I mean do NOT RUN up the Rocky stairs. It seems like a cool idea when youre at the bottom, but man by time you get to the top you need an oxygen tank.

Well at least I did, I guess four hours of drinking and then walking all over philly first didnt help

A big thanks to all who have posted so far . . .

I'm plotting the locations of places mentioned to see where they are, unfortunately I will only have time for one as I really am just driving thru.

Also, Gearhead99 - Thanks for the list of quick drive by places of interest. What you mentioned is pretty much what I figured was there to see. I think I may actually get out of the car to see the Liberty Bell if there isn't a gigantic crowd.

Brewdude - There's no way I ever planned, nor will I ever , run up those stairs.

k

Pat's all the way. Just get a cheessteak "wit" (Onions and cheezwhiz) If you don't order right they will make you go to the back of the line!

It sounds like you are making a trip that I was making quite a bit before I recently lost my job to a dirty CEO. Who are you working for?

Anyway philly is nice but the people leave a lot to be desired.

Have fun and once you pass Cal Ripkin's new stadium watch out for the cops all the way into Baltimore!

Now there's a way to run a business . . .

If they told me to go to the back of the line they wouldn't get my business. I don't care how good the damn sandwich is.

Basically I look at it like this . . .

If you're getting MY money, you treat me with respect or else you lose my business.

Forget Pat's and Geno's and go to Tony Lukes. If you need directions email me. I've lived here in Philly for 27 years and I've tried them all. Tony Lukes is the best.
