2005 Hybrid Trucks!!!!
SEMI HEMI
The Hemi DOID is a big joke
The Hemi is already inifiscent enough and now putting an even more complex system under the hood would not help any.
What dodge needs to do is lose the Kenworth look and lighten the truck up so that the hemi does not have to strain as much.
As it stands now the hemi lilege sucks

By the way, i thought this was a ford site not a dodge one.

Not sure where youre going with that question.
Talking about the competition is a good thing. It confirms that we bought the better truck, or that its worse and Ford needs to work harder to keep our business. Each conclusion is up to the individual member based on what they think is important (outright speed for some, towing for others, luxury touches etc)
That and Ford employees do frequent this site. If they read that we are all getting disappointed with the truck and are contemplating bolting to another brand, then they may pay attention and fix the problems.
Competition is a good thing.
Excactly Right!
I am sorry for the bad report that i gave on the dodge products and i know that competiton is good and all. J-150 was right in every aspect of the word. This however does not change my overall opinion on the dodge products but it will make me reluctent to post stuff like that again. I like the Extended cab more and more every day regarding the f150.

Diesel is more efficient than gas. I have a friend that has a 2WD F350 that gets 18 mpg in mixed hwy/city driving...that is a HEAVY truck and a big motor. The F150 is lighter and I read that a poss 06/07 F150 may have a redesigned Cummings diesel V6...they do own that company. That info came from a link posted on this board.

The 05 jeep liberty is coming with a new designed diesal called a rail something its a 4 cyc. and has torque of a v8 and hp power of a v8 and 27 miles to the gallon.
Look at this Silverado hybrid
Doesn't seem to add that much to fuel economy...10% I think it said. The onboard generator would be good for contractors or anyone who needs portable power
Competition is great! Everyone measures their trucks by the new F150. When they improve Ford ups the anti again. I expect you'll see the blue oval with a hybrid soon.

The story I heard is that Ford used to own shares in Cummins, not outright ownership. They sold them a few years ago.
This may have happened around the time Nasser sold many Ford assets (heavy truck division, New Holland farm equipment etc)
I do not know how true this is, but this is the version I have read in a number of places.

Actually an electric assisted engine might be good for a truck... not because of fuel savings but because of the huge amount of torque... The electric motors kick in the torque instantly, whereas a combustion engine has to wait until a higher RPM range...
The Toyota Prius electric motor kicks in 295 ft/lbs at 0- I think 1200 rpms... Put that with a regular v8 and you could have a lot of extra power... (Maybe lighter?? i don't know)
Also, the new thought is to have smaller electric motors at each drive wheel so there is no loss of power in the transfer.
I also remembering reading an article about electric motors at each drive wheel, and a setup like this in a Viper with the same engine would allow the viper to go 0 - 60 in under 3 seconds (and I think it is just under 4 now, right?)
But I don't know If I like them yet... I mean..you can't put flowmasters on an electric motor
