newb here

howdy
i've heard some good stuff about this forum, so i lurked for a bit, then decided to register

born and raised in northern Florida (Tallahassee/havana/monticello area), and yes, despite growing up in a college town, i do consider myself something of a redneck
i left Tally to join the USAF, i'm currently stationed in the hell that is southern Maryland, Andrews AFB

i have a '67 Mustang coupe that i'm gathering parts for and working on slowly, also have a '93 F-150 that i use as a daily driver and as a tow pig

i am an inline six cylinder zealot, my mustang, and my truck are both inline six cylinders, the mustang is a 200ci, the truck is a 300ci/4.9L

*with most of my pics, you can click 'em for a bigger version*

i'm something of a photographer as well, my most recent good pics were of the WWII memorial at about 0330
these were pretty long exposures actually....

aaaand i'm starting to ramble, so i'll go lurk for a while

Welcome to F-150 online, if you have lurked here long enough you know what kind to rejects you find hanging out here in General Discussion so I don't have to warn you. Just curious, whats so bad about Southern Maryland?

haven't lurked that long actually, but thanks for the warning, i'm pretty sure i can take care of myself

if you want me to put it bluntly, i've been to a lot of places that i dislike, but i've never been to a place that has disliked me
have you ever gotten that vibe that an area cares for you? that's sorta what i feel back home, and in most areas of the south
here, i have felt like this place wouldn't care if i lived or died, it's just... indifferent
plus, i'm too close to DC, i need green growing things, not all this damnable concrete and steel

cretin: [French crétin, from French dialectal, deformed and mentally retarded person found in certain Alpine valleys, from Vulgar Latin

He's really not a cretin. Despite popular opinion, I suspect dzervit falls into the borderline deficiency catagory (see below).

IQ Range Classification
70-80 Borderline deficiency
50-69 Moron
20-49 Imbecile
below 20 Idiot

I found that table somewhere and it always makes me laugh.

I hear ya. I heard that place sucks. I was just hoping to make you feel a little better. To be honest with you, Minot is not bad at all. I was there 3 years and had the time of my life. It was great. I know what you mean about feeling like you belong or that if you left or died nobody would care. Well Minot was the exact opposite, it was great and had a real family feel to it. Cold as hell in the winter and hot as hell in the summer. The most extreme weather i've ever been in.Hang in there, you'll be fine. Just find the things you like to do and surround yourself with the people who like the same things and you'll be fine.

Now put your money in the bank so you can get an 05 F150.

i'm actually going to start looking into a family hardship transfer, my grandmother lives just a few miles away from Patrick AFB, and she's been having a rough time lately, needs some family close to her

why do i want an '05 F150? are they bringing the I6 back!?!?!?!? if so, point me in the right direction man!

Maryland people suck. I live in Maryland and I can say it.

The state itself is not bad. But the people are in a hurry to go nowhere. General customer service is horrible. I would rather go almost anywhere else in the country.

Hi and welcome!! I used to have a '67 Mustang too and I loved it. Mine had the 289 V8 in it however, peppy little engine!! Man I hated to get rid of that car It just needed more toward restoration than I had in the bank at the time.
