Asking For Your Prayers

I have a huge favor for everyone tonight. Please include my grandparents in your prayers tonight.

This morning in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada where they live, it was such a great morning they decided to do what they loved the most. Ride their motorcycle around town. There was an accident. Someone ran a stop sign and ran into my grandparents. They were rushed to the hospital. My grandfather broke every rib, fractured parts of his spine (luckily no damage to the spinal cord), broke part of his hip, and a few other things. My grandmother had a torn aorta (main artery coming from the heart). My grandfather has to be on a respirator because the ribs are too damaged to move with the diaphragm. Originally he was in much worse condition. She was expected to have one surgery and be done, out of the hospital. Both were expected to survive. That was, until her surgery started. They found that her aorta tore much more. There was a lot of internal bleeding and blood clots in her lungs. She was immediatly flown to Calgary for emergency surgery. Here is the big problem. The doctor said there is a good chance she will die. If she survives the surgery, there is a really good chance she will be paralyzed. We all have a really bad feeling about this. I am asking for everyones prayers for my grandparents. It is doubtful that I will ever see my grandmother again. All I can do is hope that our prayers are answered.

Sorry to hear about the accident. They will be in my prayers.

FWIW, in my personal experience, I have seen several instances where the Doctors initially presented the 'worst case scenario' to the family. Over time, the healing and recovery ended up being much better than Dr.'s early estimates. So don't give up hope!

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandparents. They will be in my thoughts and prayers. I sincerely hope the doctors are wrong about your grandmothers chances. Such a horrible thing to happen.

I'll be sure to "storm Heaven" with prayers for them & all your family TXCoUnTrYbOy. I truly believe prayer does a lot more than modern medicine will credit it with. I'll also write the intentions in the parish prayer intentions book & ask everyone I know to pray for them.
Hang in there & remember you're not alone. We're here for you & so is He! God Bless.

Well, I have some good news, but everything isnt over yet. My grandmother got out of surgery successful, but the doctors have to wait for her to wake up and watch her for 12 hours before they can determine of any paralysis. Doctors also said they have never seen anyone survive this long with that amount of damage to the aorta. People usually bleed to death within a few hours after the accident when this happens. God has been watching over her and my grandfather. He was scheduled for surgery last night, but was bumped back. That is a good thing, because it means he is not serious enough to be top priority at the hospital. People more serious came in that had to be top priority.

Thank you for your prayers, but I know we are not out of the woods yet.

Count me in Kiddo! I have a knot in my throat, not so much because of the accident, but seeing how much you care for them. All 4 of my grandparents were gone before I got here, but I think of them often. I'll be thinking and praying for you and your family...especially your grandparents.

Count me in- Tex.

I know how hopeless and powerless situations can make you feel. Just last year my mother had a stroke~ thankfully she recovered about 95%; she walks with a little limp now. During that ordeal- they found out she had cancer of the lungs. man, my mother means the world to me- so I felt like a ton of bricks fell on me. I'm 400+ miles from home, so I can't get home what I consider fast enough; the plane ride (Even on bereavement rates if applicable) was $411.00 one way from DFW to Monroe Regional Airport. (It's a 4.5-hour drive to the same point.) I had my bag packed, and was ready to go at all times. I kept it packed all last summer.

My mother has smoked my entire 35 years, and for 35 years I tried to make her quit. She wouldn't.

Through prayer- my mother has survived both, and was here to see her grandson born in April of this year. Prayer helps Tex, if it's in His will, everything will work itself out!

Thanks everyone. They have both gone through all the surgeries they need right now and are in the healing process. Still dont know when they will be released, but they are awake, talking, and starting to move a little more. Our payers have been answered. My grandmother was expected to die, and she is awake and talking now. The thing i cant help but laugh at is the way she acted the day she went in there. She wakes up and says "Where the he** did you put my clothes. Give me my clothes Im going home."
