Can the 'tracking' be screwed up on a DVD?

I rented Super Trooper's from Blockbuster this afternoon, and when it plays, it's like the tracking is screwed up. I didn't think that was possible with a DVD, but that's exactly what it looks like. The screen kinda jumps while it's playing.

Any troubleshooting tips?

Thanks in advance

Nevermind...I pulled it out, licked the underside of it, dried it off and put it back in! El perfecto!

Sounds dirty, but it turns out just the disc was dirty.

After you get through reading about how CD's work, read about how DVD's work here: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dvd.htm

Trust me, I've licked the bpttom, or underside, of worse and everything is still intact!

I've tried it before on CD's, I was a little hesitant of the DVD, but it worked. Hell, I'll take my chances!

Tell ya what, next time, just run it under the faucet to get the big stuff off & use a soft damp washcloth for the rest.
Unless it's a rental dvd. If it's a rental just use a wet napkin/paper towel.

so if the bottom of the DVD was dirty and you licked it then your tongue is dirty, hope you rinsed your mouth out. Nasty!

THe above posts are right... licking could be hazardous... Hell, I could have been the one that rented it before you. You should see what I do with my rented DVDs, a razor, a jar of mayo & some neighbor hood cats!

Tuff, did you finish the case before starting the movie. I swear, do we need to remind you that drinking to the point of licking rented DVDs and other rented items is not condoned here.......rather it is expected!

I was in the mood for Whiskey last night, so I stopped by and got handle of Jack. I waited until after dinner and after my second drink to start it. Man, it's funny!
