They put in the wrong windshield!
I got in my truck this morning for the first time since the windshield was replaced (wife has had my truck the last few days) - to my astonishment, I found they installed the wrong windshield! I got a quote for Carlite, which is OE, and I saw they had put in a Pilkington windshield, a cheaper aftermarket version.
The manager got a call from me after I got to the office, and he quickly agreed to replace the windshield with the OE - however, thinking back, I don't remember him being very apologetic...
I get another new windshield Monday - and they are going to drive down to Columbus again to intall it

Awesome... They were probably hoping you wouldn't notice or
wouldn't care. That's why he wasn't apologetic, he was pi$$ed
that you new and wanted it right..... Score one for the good guy.

what was the price difference between the OE and the Pilkington
Glass Doctor tried to pull that crap with me when my Ranger was broken into in downtown Atlanta. They put some no-name glass in it when i told them over the phone I wanted LOF. The had to come back the next day and change it out.

Darn! You caught me!
I've heard stories - charging a client for pH meter when you really only used litmus paper, billing for a oil/water indicator when you only had water level indicator onsite - the list goes on and on...
Huh? Me?
Litmus? Listen here buddy... that job required pH and DO so, the meter was pulling double duty (and yes, it registered DO!). The litmus was QA/QC to ensure that the meter was operating correctly!
Kolor-Kut doesn't count as an oil-water indicator?

I used Triumph - they have a 1-800 number in the Columbus phone book. I used them a few years ago to replace a windshield in a work van. While they were onsite, I asked the guy about fixing a chip in my truck's windshield, and he actually did it for free while he was there. Then I use them this time and they try to screw me over.
It cost me $220. They originally quoted my $250 for OE, and asked if I had got a better quote. I told them another place quoted me $227 for OE, and Triumph siad they would do it for $220.
15 miles NW of Columbus ... that would put you in the middle of nowhere or in Camp Atterbury

I have been hesitant to post here, but now that I'm 8 1/2 sheets to the wizzy, I figured I'd add my $0.02.
Whether or not they were trying to ***** you over, I don't know. I am certainly not playing favorites.
I'd be curious to know what their aftermarket replacement policy is.
I don't work in glass, but in auto claims. for a, oh, let's say "fairly large" insurance company. Our policy is that we'll replace with aftermarket (except for outer sheetmetal) or reconditioned, and if you are not "COMPLETELY SATISFIED" (in bold, black, CAPITAL letters in our policy) we'll replace it until you are satisfied with whatever part you want.
Again, I am certainly not taking sides here, and I think you did what was right. However, if the glass co. went OEM with everything, they wouldn't be in business today.

I don't know, maybe the installer screwed up and put in the wrong windshield by accident; however, I think the maanger should have been VERY apolagetic about the incident, whether it was intentional or not.
Don't wait until your 8 1/2 sheets to the wind to post, it's not like I'm going to jump out of your computer screen and attack you for your opinion. People want to hear what others have to say that deal w/ this type of stuff on a daily basis.
