MapQuest Question

A question for anyone who has used MapQuest.....How accurate have you found the suggested travel times?

I'm planning a trip to the US later this year and was just curious.
I've checked it against travel routes in Canada that I do regularly....In some cases it's pretty close, but in others the trip is much shorter than MapQuest suggests.

I've been able to knock at least a half an hour off Mapquest times when I've gone from here to Marietta for school. Over longer distances, you should be able to beat Mapquest times by at least an hour if not more.

In my opinion Mapquest sucks. The logic built into the system looks at Interstate highways first and if no interstate is available then it will look at other highways. This often adds a lot of miles to the length of the trip. I think that Mappoint gives much better directions.

I just travelled from NJ to Las Vegas, directions were accurate. Mileage was a pretty damn close, didn't include turn offs for gas and hotels I'm guessing. Time was real close too. Naturally they base it on posted limits...I tried Yahoo maps, close to the same but had me going out of the way a bit. Expedia was also close in mileage and time but when I printed out the directions they were a bit screwed...

I was a former Mapquest user and switched to Map Point as well. I find that Map Point is more accurate and more reliable.

Thanks for your replies everyone! I checked out Map Point.....route is pretty much the same but they're suggesting about 3 hours less drivetime.

I'm toying with the idea of driving down to Texas in October....never seen that part of the US and I think it would be a great drive. Hey....it's only 40 hours from here to King Ranch!!
