Thumbs down Broken Chevy

I just have a question that I hope someone out there can answer. My daughter's 1994 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 automatic will not shift into high gear. I changed the trans filter, and fluid. That was no help. Someone told me that this transmision was known for this problem. What has me stumped is that sometime it will shift, and sometime it will not. Has anyone out there had this problem, or know what to look for. Thank you for your time.

well not sure if this will help at all...a girl i work withs car had the same problem. I asked her what they all fixed and the only thing she could tell me was that the over drive switch on the gearshift didn't work so they replaced that..but she doesn't think that was all they did. Sorry i couldn't help more.

This Cavalier only has 1-2-3, no overdrive. Thank you anyway, it was worth a shot.

Transmissions used to have a vacuum modulator on them which would cause that exact problem if disconnected from vacuum or defective.

Wink

Nice try also, thought of that right off the bat. Trouble is, in 1994 the Cavelier automatic does not have a modulator. Thanks for your try also.
