Ok, so technically, it is, but I don't know, when I was 14, I would have loved to have been in this "kids" shoes...

For her, it's statutory rape in most states. For him, it's good luck.

It looks like his cousin was ticked that he wasn't getting any himself, and called the cops.

Playah hater.

Deny ... deny ... deny.

It's not the 14 year olds fault that his cousin has a reputation for lying and making up wild stories. Hint, hint, hint.

Re: Is This REALLY A "Crime"?

So what if he was 11?
or 8?
or 6?

Or what if the teacher was a man?

When does it become a crime?
I'd just like to know for the record.

Anytime its a kid this young. Sure, we see it different because it is a boy. If it were a girl no one would be saying lucky basturd, more likely little ****.

Anyhow, lucky little basturd.

Technically it is a "crime". My question is what does a "woman" her age (although still young) see in a boy?? Certainly not for his staying power! One minute of fun for jail? I think she should have opted for a student teacher myself!

I was just joking around; but, I'll tackle this question.

It is a crime. She has been charged.

I think you're more interested in the reaction than the crime. Simply, there is a double standard. Men and women are different. Surprise! We, as onlookers, react differently to men and women in the the same, or similar, situations. For example, if a man strikes a woman, there is outrage and a protective reaction. If a man strikes another man, there is less of an emotional reaction. Often such an exchange is allowed to run it's course, or is broken up for it's inappropriateness. If a woman hits a man, no one intervenes... Unless of course he retaliates. Often this is a great source of humor for the witnesses, and the woman may gain respect for her actions. (If a woman hits a woman, you break out the lawn chairs and baby oil, in hopes of a long battle ending in two naked women kissing and making up.) J/K

I would feel differently if my son were "taken advantage of" by an older woman, than I would if my daughter were taken advantage of by an older man... or older woman for that matter. That is the way we are as a people, mostly. Some may not be honest about it though. There are plenty of ways to try and explain this. Some make sense, some do not. None make much of a difference in the fact that this is the way of things.

Agreed 110%.

Truth be known, even if this is a tall-tale and the kid is making all of it up, this teacher's reputation will be permanently ruined. Of course, on the flip side of that coin, if she did commit this act, she must be punished as it is a crime.

I have to admit, she is kinda hot with her hair pulled back. I'm not 14 but I'd... oh crap, I'm married. Nevermind.

You mess with a kid (ie minor) sexually, should be a simple punishment.

A. if you are male, you get it cut off!

B. if you are female, you get it sewed shut!

C. if it was oral, regardless of sex, you get your mouth sewed shut and you eat through a straw or an IV!

Case closed!

worst kind of offenders! I don't believe they can be rehabilitated.

I would use the dancing banana here, but it might be too suggestive.

Heh, on the face of it, it certainly is a crime (hard to express "tone", I was more or less, being sarcastic).

Odin's Wrath covers some aspects, but the neat thing about this, is there are a ton of "tangent" issues. You alluded to it with the question of when it becomes a crime. For example, what if the 14 year old has the maturity of an 18 year old? Conversely, what if a 19 year old has the mentality of a 14 year old and kills someone? Do we still try them as adults??? (I know, I know, WHOLE other direction, concept is the same though).

At ages 11, 8, or 6, it's clearly a crime. While maturity within this respect may be questionable at 14, it's far less at 11, and non-existent at 8 or 6 (excluding atypical situations, i.e. 8 year old with the intelligence and maturity of a 20 year old, that sort of thing...).

I dunno, clearly she was a dumbass for doing such. I guess she didn't think (or care) that a 14 year old would probably blab. I wonder if she understood that she risked everything? Maybe she did, and it was one of those "self defeatist" things, who knows... But, since we have to uphold precedent and abide to the structure of law, it's definitely a crime. Perhaps the maturity component will express itself in more lenient sentencing, who knows...

BTW, I've been lurking for a bit, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you all like this kinda "gray area" controversial stuff... If not, or if it causes too much chaos, let me know and I'll happily refrain!

I keep forgetting I'm alot older than most of you.

I guess if you are closer to the 14 yr olds age than mine you think, woo hoo.

But after you've parented two 14 yr olds you think, sexual predator, period.

She’s a BABE!
