Exclamation Gas Tank Components

I am going to replace my gas tanks in my 1984 F-150 P/U (Dual Tanks). I know I have to get the sending unit as well, but is there some kind of plastic vent valve on the top of the tank that I have to replace as well? If so, where do I get it and how does it install? Can I use the same vent valve off of the old tank, and if so how do I remove it?

Please help, I need my truck back so I can go to work.

Thanks,

Mike

Have you tried Autozone and Advance Auto? Or Pep Boys? If you can't find it there, go to a junkyard. I'm not sure what your talking about when you say "vent" valve. But if it's made of plastic I think I know what your talking about. It problably slips down into a grommet. But I'm not for sure. Check it to see if the valve has a grommet around it, and lube it with some WD-40 and see if it will pull out. If it's stubborn at first, keep working it. It's bound to come out somehow. I'm not really sure what I'm talking about, just using my logic. I had an 88 f-150 with the dual tanks, but never had to mess with the gas tanks. I hate to see somebody go without, because of vehicle problems. So I figured I'd at least try to help. If I'm no help, I'd suggest go to your local parts store and buy a Haynes manual for your model of truck. I'm sure you'll find the answer in there somwhere. Sorry if I'm no help.
