Beastie Boys

Do these guys put the OLD in old school, or what? I checked out a few of their new vids on AOL Music; and, Father Time is really starting to catch up. I wonder what young kids think of older white guys rapping? I've been a fan since they hit big, way back when; but, I wonder if they're reaching the next generation or not?

i havent picked up the last release from them, but i didnt get a good vibe from the one song i heard thats getting airplay.

i think the first album of theirs i picked up was pauls botique, which i still think is the best they have ever put out.

i need to spend some time with that new one, but from the cut i heard, it seemed to be lacking the kick, or groove that the rest of what they put out has.

i had also heard that this was supposed to be a 'going back to their roots' cd, but from what i have listened too from them, their roots were more in hardcore than traditional rap.

they have stood the test of time and have a real impressive stable of releases.

I dig that new song they got. Always been a beastie fan. Haven't heard anything else off the new album, but I hear it's got a political vibe to it. Not surprising given their age. If that's true, I ain't gonna get it. I hate when actors/muscians start spewing garbage about what's right and wrong. Shut up and sing you overpaid jackarse, I'll vote for who I want, not who you like. You can't tell me what to do!! AARRRGGGHHHH!!!

I like the Beastie Boys but I agree with the above statement, their politics turn me off on some of the new stuff. As if your opinion is any more valid that mine just b/c you are famous. Maybe I'm just to countrified from listening to too much Toby Keith...

I have their new CD, 5 boroughs....a few good song, nice beats to ride to. but like the majority here, i Do agree that the political **** needs to stay off of what we listen to. I mean damn i have to see that **** in the news, radio, newspapers, at work, on the internet, and wherever else....i dont want to hear it on a CD i buy to listen to.

Theres a difference from saying something like "I love America, but F**k the government" ~Eminem.
to saying something like "2003 we got a president we did not elect" ~MCA.

its ok not to like the current president, but not to try to influence others to vote for your choice.

dont get me wrong here, but I too am a big Beastie Boys fan Mostly teh Dj Mix Master Mike. But a year ago I went to the Coachella arts festival (big multi band concerts in a 2 day period) The Beastie Boys were the last to play on night and they totally made me think differently. After they gave this big political smeal, before they started playing, I decided I didnt want to stay and watch/ listen to anymore of there performance that night.
Politics is ike Religion. I dont give a rats azz what you belive in or preach, just dont preach it to me.

I'm glad someone else brought up the politics issue with these guys. I have always loved the group, and still have the "best of" CD in my truck at all times. They have, however, tainted my enjoyment of their music with their political bologne. To be fair, does anybody know of any moderate to conservative artists in the the rap/hip-hop scene? I can't think of any. What else would you expect from the Boys? I just don't want it confirmed. Keep it to yourself guys.

And rock it up a little more next time.

I will probably be hitting up their site later tonight or tomorrow. will try to search for a forum of some sort, or a email.....rather take my feelings about this to the horse's mouth. b/c this being the first Beastie boy's CD i've ever bought (listened to them since they had "fight for your right to party" or whatever it was called) has just totally tainted my views on em.

really disappointed to tell ya the truth, the video "ch-ch-check it out" had the look and feel of classic beastie boys which i was soooo looking to listen to.
