that particular practice i have not heard of from ford. I have heard of it from BMW though.

Ford does however void warrenties based on things posted on forums. They don't go through just gathering information but if two events coincided and they find them matching they have been known to void.

Ford will void your warranty if you post about having mods and then come in with a blown engine and there is proof of mods on the vehicle.

They won't automatically void your warranty as soon as they see you posted about having mods. You get a chance to prove whether the damage was mod related or not.

Mitsubishi Motors is on its last leg financially and I am not surprised to see them do whatever they can to save a buck.

That's all fine and good but we're talking about an automobile manufacturer here. Marketing can only go so far. I personally find their commercials rediculous.

I like a few of the cars that Mitsu makes. The Lancer EVO and the Eclipse aren't bad cars for what they are.

Plenty of car companies are not on their last leg and they are doing everything to save a buck.

Don’t sweet it, when the service writer ask if you have a chip in your truck just tell them you allow NO ONE to eat in your truck, or you could always ask him/her if they are hungry…

If we look in our owners manual at the warranty, we will see that "racing" can void the warranty. I'm not surprized that Mitsu would do this. I agree that it sucks, especially since the guy who's car broke was honest and open with the dealer.

Racing or modifying a stock vehicle to gain HP will always get your warranty voided if they detect it. There are a few dealerships that are exceptions though. Think about it this way: If you were Ford and had to pay for someone who put a NX kit/SC/turbo or whatever on an auto, would you want to pay for the engine after someone grenaded it? I know I sure wouldn't. However, voiding a warranty for an exhaust kit is extreme.

I think "racing" and "modifying" a vehicle would each get a different response from a dealership. It's my understanding that the entire warranty can be void if a vehicle is raced. Modding would effect the warranty on a case by case basis.

Right now Ford will void your warranty if you go in with so much as a Superchip installed. If you own an L, a K&N will fit the bill. If you want to guarantee yourself a warranty, don't mod it until the warranty is expired. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of the service writer. literally. Thank God my warranty expired on 6/16, now if I break it, I fix it.

The dealer must have the first word. I have had warranty work done even though my truck is not stock. The last time, I was prepaired to pay, and they covered it.
