Hello college!
Joe, good luck. Keep on top of your schoolwork. At your age, it's real easy to want to have fun more than work at school (it was a while a ago, but I still remember), but more than just the facts you'll learn, the real asset is learning how to learn and how to research things. What you do will be a benefit or not for the rest of your life!
Joe - unlike the others, I'm gonna say to hell with the studies - alcohol is your new best friend & go find the college babes! Just do well enough to pass, as your degree doesn't have your GPA on it.
C'mon, everyone was thinking it, but nobody said it!!

When I applied for jobs they didn't want to see the Degree.
They wanted origional transcripts stamped by the Registar.

First things first: congrats and good luck!
Second thing: Don't be like me! I went to a four year school after 2 years at a junior college (13th and 14th grade basically). Junior college was just a waste for me. While I studied hard and got decent grades, I was under my parents roof the whole time. When I got to UMass, they took very few of my classes so I basically started out as a second semester freshman. I made a bunch of friend and partied every night. I took no responsiblity for myself and expected the professors to just hand me good grades. I either slept through my engineering classes or skipped due to work. I failed miserably. I got it in my head that college wasn't all it was cracked up to be, so I dropped out. Big mistake. There isn't a college drop out in the world that gets any respect. So now I'm 28, in a low level engineering job and working on my 7th year of night school to finish my degree. It has not been fun to watch my friends graduate, get great jobs, spend ridiculous money, and have a life while I'm still in school. Actually its humiliating. But I graduate in December and I'm desperately looking forward to it.
So party hard and study hard. Do what ever you have to do to pass your classes. Get it done as quick as you can and enjoy your freedom!

Any way I can contribute to getting the ricers blood boiling is okey-dokey with me...
Like Crashz I also quit college, couldn't afford it any longer. The few things I learned are stay with it. It doesn't matter if you are one class away from graduating you still are dumb as rocks until you get that sheepskin (I still got 3 classes to finish).
Going to a four year college is better than a two year. It gives you the freedom to do what you want while learning to manage your time. No one will hold your hand, either you do it or you don't.
Since going back I discovered it isn't really what you know but how much effort you put in(got an A in financial accounting, and I still can't tell you what a balance sheet is) I think this goes with the idea that a four year degree is just general background knowledge in a particular subject.
Anyway good luck and enjoy. Don't quit or in 5-10 years you WILL be kicking yourself in the butt.

and habibi i've always heard that during summer break in college you're supposed to work the suckiest job you can find so as to subliminally encourage yourself to complete your degree so you don't have to work a job like that forever
...i install carpet in the summer...not that i don't like the job or the guys, i'd just rather be working on some planes or rockets then doing carpet
