President Reagan has passed away…
Defiantly a very sad day one in which one of America’s most revered, respected and productive Presidents ever has passed away.
He took office in a time when inflation was high, interest rates were in the 20% range, unemployment was high, taxes where high and America itself just didn’t have a lot of pride in itself.
“Morning in America” was one of Presidents Reagan’s lines and one in which he used to help pick many Americans up and bring the pride back that had been lost for so long. Because he was courageous and had true values and due to his policies ended the cold war. Rather then continue to practice appeasement or cohabitating with the communist threat he took it head on to eventually defeat it.
I was proud to be apart of his 600 ship Navy in the military buildup that brought the communist to their knees among other policies. He didn’t worry about what the doom and gloom crowd was spouting, nor did he worry about polls, he simply relied on his values to steer the course and it was the right moves.
He proved that tax cuts grow an economy, bring down interest rates, create jobs and bring in more revenue to the federal government then any and all tax hikes could ever dream about. He knew it was the right thing to do and that it was a win-win situation. His proof was an economy that enjoyed a good 20 year growth that had never been seen before.
Most importantly, through his great leadership and personality gave America a reason to feel proud about themselves and their country. He helped Americans to believe in themselves and to rely on themselves and that gave many people reason to be proud of themselves. He made everyone feel like they belonged and that we were one big family and that is why he had the Reagan democrats, the vast majority of them voting for a republican President which lead to landslides on election night.
There has yet to be another President to replace him or even come close to what he was able to accomplish not just for our country but for individuals themselves. Maybe one day we will see another like President Reagan but since his last term there has not be one President who could touch half of what he was able to do…
He will be missed by his country and his countrymen…

Yes, very sad.
I live only a few miles from where the President lived. Drove by the house after it was announced. (It was a zoo).
Just a little while ago, the hearse carrying the President's body went by my place.
I got these pix from my balcony.
RIP President Reagan.

God bless and rest in peace.
Ron stood up for this country, he didn't take no cr@p. He shut Gaddafi up real fast. Took it right to his doorstep. Countries that didn't want to cooperate, he just went around them. He was the backbone of this powerful military we have today. He restored cut programs and made sure that the military received a way overdue cost of living increase. He made a big difference in this country.

Kind of wish he was still Prez.
We wouldn't have any Al Queda's or Osama bin Laden's.
If Sept 11 happened on his watch, the entire Middle East would be paying for it. When he was done, the only organization Saudi Arabia would be funding would be Girl Scouts.
Hat's off to one tough SOB that wouldn't take crap from anyone and put his country back on the map.

Yes very well said 01 XLT...!!!!
At a time when all the so called leaders have other woman on the side, etc, etc, he was one that did not...He set high standards and lived them himself...A real leader of men...You don't have any one coming in that will match him..sadly for us...
How he treated his pen pal in a story that I saw today tells me allot about who he was...I'm hearing impaired and understand just how hard it is to cope and follow many issues that he had to deal with...he was hearing impaired...not stupid or slow...that I know...
My mother had aliztimers and I cared for her the last 5 years of her life...I know how hard that was for her and for her family...She used to hit her head complaining that she could not remember something, like the blow would make it work right again...She was so smart and good to everyone...She was my Mom...
So President Reagan , has my respect and I hope he is at rest at last...

I've found myself all choked up several times this week. The worst was when they played Margaret Thatcher's recorded ulogy.
President Reagan IS the embodiment of what America is to me. I grew up surrounded by Democrats. The first President I remember is Jimmy Carter. Even the Dems called him peanut farmer and made embarrassed comments about him. He was a terrible President. A good man, but a terrible president. The image of the United States suffered greatly during his term. The Middle East pushed us around with impugnity. It was embarrassing, and set the stage for the problems the world is facing today. Reagan managed to turn all that around. I was never so proud to be an American as I was during his term in office. The past week has been a comfirmation to me that I was not alone. I loved that man.

I'm late to this thread obviously, but had to chime in. Reagan was our greatest President of the 20th century, no doubt. When I was younger I couldn't see it, but I do remember being proud to have him as President, when he was in office. I have extensively studied our economy since then and know, without a doubt, that the tax cuts he pushed through helped keep our economy strong through the '90's. It was Bush sr's tax hike(along with the Dems) that led to the recession of '91-93.
President Reagan makes me sad that we had term limits. He is one of a few Presidents that come along ever 75-100 years that never abused his power and could be trusted to be President more than 8 years. RIP President Reagan, one day we shall meet.
