Memorial Day Outing...

My wife and I are relocating to Salt Lake City this coming Saturday, this was our last chance to enjoy Alaska. Spent the weekend on my parents 40 ft sailboat out of Seward. Weather was great, low 60's and sunny.

Yours truly w/daughter

Leaving Alaska for SLC. I bet you must be sad. Nothing personal but I hate SLC. Well except for all the blondes but everything else there sucks. Nice little boat you got there.

I have several reasons for leaving AK to go to SLC...

For one, I own a small software development shop. 80% of my clientelle are in SLC. I'm flying back and forth minimum once a month. My company has taken a major turn in business direction which has created an even larger demand in the SLC area. ( Wasn't my initial intent to market to the SLC area, just happened that way). This move has the potential of turning a 1 man operation into a multi-million dollar outfit and will possibly require me to recruit several more software developers.

Another reason for leaving AK, my wife is East-Indian, she's lived in America for 15 years and has only lived in Alaska. SLC is a compromise, I can still snowmachine and play in the mountains.

Both of us our quite tired of the darkness in winter (not tired of winter), we're also looking forward to 4 seasons.

I've lived in Alaska for 25 of my 33 years and Alaska will always be in my heart, however, I also realize that I can't expect the success of my business to be handed to me (that would make me a liberal ) and I'm willing to make the sacrifices necessary to ensure my business is successful and ultimately so my family can have financial independence...

And NO I'm not LDS

I can see why you are moving, sounds like a wise decision on your part. I would probably do the same if I were in your shoes, although I would find it extremely difficult. I have only been in Alaska for 4 years but I have grown to love it here (I don't even mind the winters!!) Good luck with your business and I hope you enjoy your stay in SLC.
