Newbie Question

Hi all I'm new to the Forum, and I have a couple questions for you experts. I am in the market for a 1999 to 2000 F-150 4 DR 4WD Extended Cab Stepside. I've gotten that far on figuring out what I want based on outward appearence and price range strictly. What other options do I have to choose from? For instance what are the differences between the Lariat, XL, and XLT packages? Are there any other packages I should be aware of such as an offroad package? Is there a sunroof option for the 1999 to 2000 model years? Can anyone point me in the right direction to find this info on the net? I'm suffering from information overload every website seems to have different terminology for the same things.

Please Help!!!!!!!

Well, it's hard to give you specifics on Lariat vs XL vs XLT, because you can pretty much load up either with alot of options.

Lariat *generally* has leather interior, premium sound, little bit diffrent on the outside.

I do not think you could get a moonroof on the extended cab, you would have to get a supercrew to get a moonroof.

Your major things to look for should be engine, 4x4 vs 4x2, mileage, condition, and color. After that, start thinking about the amenities and if you would like leather or cloth, etc.

It also helps to just start looking around at the dealerships and used car lots, get a general idea of what is available in your area and what kind of price range to look at.
good luck

Generally, the Lariat has the more bells and whistles. Leather, premium sound, stuff like that. Generally, the XLT is more of a work series than a Lariat, but still equally equipped (not counting leather, I don't think you can get leather in an XLT from the factory, but usually you can get almost everything else). The FX4, ORP and towing packages are things that you will have to decide if you want, but I would suggest getting at least a towing package truck. If you'll never tow, though, then I wouldn't worry about it. 4x4 is just as much a 4x4 whether or not it has an FX4 package, but I think the FX4 had upgraded shocks and maybe more skidplates. cars.com has the best prices usually when searching for trucks, but eBay has a great selection of Ford half-tons as well. Good luck, and get us some pics of the truck you buy!
