01, I know your original question was about WWII, but also covers the media in general. It makes me wonder two things, and would be interested in your thoughts.

1. Why are there no conservatively owned media outlets?

2. What is the corelation between the fact that so much of the media is owned by American Jews and the fact of the liberal media (I'm not sure of affiliations of most American Jews). It seems odd that American Jews would not be all for this war, and display it in a positive manner.

Well to be honest this notion you bring up about a vast majority of the media being owned by Jewish Americans is news to me. I mean just that news to me and not that I don’t believe you because I simply don’t know.

Now from reading those links you provided it would seem, at least to me, that if in fact the vast majority of the media was owned by Jewish Americans then this war on terrorism which includes Iraq would have an extreme right slant to it, not a moderate down the middle but a hard core right slant to it.

Therefore even if it is true that the vast majority of media is owned by Jewish Americans I do not see their influence portrayed in their end product which is what is put out on TV and actually quit the opposite. I see more resentment towards Israel’s plight and an attitude if America cut and run and left Israel on their own we would be much better off and wouldn’t have to worry about terrorism here. I see it portrayed, in large part that it is because of our relationship to Israel and the Jewish people why we are now fighting a war on terrorism.

The product I see on TV is vastly a product influenced by political beliefs, agendas and values or lack thereof and not of a particular group of people or religion. At least that is how I see it…

Sorry to say it, but as a country we are third rate now, have been for some time. We've become too comfortable and lazy and one day we're going to get our butts handed to us and we're gonna wonder why....

Are you talking about the civilians, or our military? I've been in the military for five years, serving with the infantry, and have yet to see us getting fat or lazy. We train hard, almost every day, and when we fought in Afghanistan, we inflicted far greater casualties to the enemy then they did to us.

Anyway, I was just curious what you meant. I'd put myself and my fellow soldiers against any military in the world, confident in our soldiers, our training, and our leadership.

And reading it again, I saw you said "our country" is getting fat and lazy. Well, you can afford to, because you have a strong military...but when fat and lazy becomes... I can't think of the word... But we're stretched thin, and our country seems to keep pushing for cutbacks.

Then, we will get our butts handed to us. But that is in no way close to this day, unless tomorrow they lay off half the military force.

Just my opinion. This is a good topic.

Duende:

I can insure you that kobiashi’s comment about ”too comfortable and lazy” was about our society at large and not the military.

Our military is as strong as ever but I do believe it should be built up more in the wake of this new day and age of terrorism. We have plenty of money in the federal budget to double the military both in personal and equipment it’s just a simple matter of priorities…

I do agree with Kobiashi’s comment about society in general becoming to comfortable and lazy. They forget things within weeks which is quit evident with 911 and they expect things that once took 5 – 10 years to be accomplished to now be done within weeks or months as is evident with Iraq.

I do think it is quit possible for us to have our “*** handed to us” with the current environment we are in, more specifically the political situation and how the left is doing everything in their power to see that this current war on terrorism is a failure or at least depicted as so come election time.

With that said if we were to ever have our “*** handed to us” it would in NO way be due to the military and those that serve us proudly but rather the lack of using the military properly and/or continuing to ignore the fact we need MORE people and MORE equipment to meet the current objectives.

When it gets right down to it, it is really up to our leaders now including the Commander In Chief to step up to the plate and tell America “how it really is” and what the left is trying to accomplish which is to make America weak so they have them (the left) to depend on once again.

Rest assured there is many more of us like me who are on the right side and see the truth and will continue to voice our opinion of reason and sound judgment to show those who can not understand that the left is hoping for major military failures and causalities in order to forward their own weak agenda. Military failures and causalities is bad news for the President and bad news for America which means it is “good” news for the left.

It is indeed sad but it is the facts, no ifs ands or butts about it and they have proven that time and time again and thus my reason for this particular thread.

Thank you for your service to our country, we are ALL in debt to you and all the rest because it is people like you and the others who insure we are a free and strong country.

Wow, extremely kind words. I think I just got defensive a little too fast, didn't really think about what he was saying.

Should have a beer so I'll chill out and relax. *grins* Again, thanks for the kind words. I don't think our military hears that enough...

Again I'm a little late coming to this thread. I was watching soething about WWII on tv the other day and they were saying there were still attacks by Hitler's loyalists 2 years after the end of the war. I remember thinking here we are one year after the fall of Saddam and the news is saying we have lost the war. I don't remember if the small skirmishes have ever really stopped. With the terrorist cells out to fight us wherever they can Iraq seems like a good place to start. Keeping this in mind only one year after the fall of Saddam, asking why isn't there peace yet seems to me to be a stupid and premature question.
