Kerry:

”I will accept the nomination, ahh I will not be accepting the nomination at the convention, ahh well maybe I won’t be accepting the nomination at the convention, ahh ok maybe I will accept the nomination at the convention, ahh I have always said I would accept the nomination at the convention”

More like a 360 then a “flip-flopper” but he is the MASTER at flip-flopping…

No, it's better to have served than to have had your daddy get you into the national guard to avoid serving. All other things that Kerry and Bush have done since then are another story.

i am very amused at all the hooplah over Kerry's war record. No one has mentioned GWB's record, or lack there of. He "supposedly" served in a National Guard Unit, but the members of that unit can't seem to recall the man whose father went on to be VP & President and who himself became a governor and then on to President. Sounds a bit one sided to me fella's, lets compare apples with apples if we are gonna discuss it.
GW did not go to Vietnam. That is clear. Did he fulfill his duty to the National Guard? There is no documentation to say otherwise. Does anyone here know someone in the Guard? You are allowed to defer a certain amount of duty, to be made up at a later time. My brother does it all the time and is in good standing with his unit. They are not regular enlisted men. It is not required of them, unless they are called up to active duty, to give up their lives and personal, or professional, pursuits.

Kerry, on the other hand, did go to Vietnam. With just 4 months in country, he managed to receive 3 minor wounds, in a relatively low risk job, and land a trip back to the States. Once here he took up bashing the soldiers he had left behind, for political gain.

There is no apples to apples comparison to be made between these two men. One has spent his entire adult life in pursuit of political office and personal power. The other, judging from the stories of how he lived his life as a young man, had no clue he would one day take an interest in public service. I like that. Many of the greatest men in our history, were men with colorful backgrounds. None of the great men of the past have ever been finger in the air wind testers, who's opinion, or stance on a subject, changed depending upon whom they were speaking with at the time. It's too soon to know how GW will be remembered in a historical sense. Kerry on the other hand.... Well, I don't think he will be remembered at all. At least not as an especially great man. Benedict Arnold has been remembered for some 200+ years now. His descendants would probably wish otherwise.

A typical interview between the interviewer and Kerry supporter:

Interviewer: ”Sir could you tell me where you candidate stands on the war on terrorism?”

Kerry Supporter: ”Ahh, not sure today, I haven’t seen any of his speeches today.”

Interviewer: ”Sir could you tell me where you candidate stands on health care?”

Kerry Supporter: ”Well, again I haven’t seen any of his speeches today.”

Interviewer: ”Sir could you tell me where you candidate stands on education?”

Kerry Supporter: ”Ahh, well, you see, I haven’t seen any of his speeches today, SO QUIT ASKING ME QUESTIONS I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT!!!!”

Moral of the story is NONE of Kerry’s supporters knows where Kerry “actually” stands on ANY issue from day to day, week to week, month to month and year to year, how could they when Kerry himself does NOT know "for sure"…

And 01 XLT (among others) gave me all kinds of grief for a 5 page lawnmower thread. LOL! This one's dragging on further!
