MAY 19th Time to rise up against the OIL COMPANIES
MAY 19th Time to rise up against the OIL COMPANIES
This is being passed around. Check it out, read it & boycott it for one day!
IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM DAY"
AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE
THAT DAY.
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN
PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT
THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON
EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING
MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE
YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS
OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"
REMEMBER
MAY 19th - Don't Buy Gas!

God, every time I see these posts I still can't believe how many idiots there are in the world. Sorry to be brash, but do you honestly, I mean honestly, expect this to work?
If so, I have a proposition about moving some funds out of Nigeria you may be interested in.

There is really only one basic way to make an "impact" on fuel prices as on most things; and thats to reduce consumption of fuel over time. If we all decided to cut our fuel consumption tomorrow -by lets say 10-15%% or so - and we all did this for a year or so - it would make a difference. I'm afraid not buying on one day - and then making up for it on the next, is'nt going to make any difference. If you had a business and no customers came for one day; would you change anything?

Yeah, the thing about this is averages. What good does it do if everyone boycotted gas this wednesday but filled up tuesday or thursday. Like someone said cut down over time. If you live fairly close to work, walk or ride a bike. Maybe even mass transit. But here is my thing, if we use less gas, will they raise their prices even more to make up for the loss? Something needs to happen...
gov't subsidiary?
It works for Milk...
(I'm kidding, I believe in the free market economy. If it were too high we'd stop buying it. It just hasn't reached that point . . . YET)

Need Some Domestic Production
Talk Ted Kennedy & John Kerry into learning the truth about oil production in Alaska and maybe these price hikes would not be so severe. The amont of lies and misinformation circulated by the greenies and democratic party are quite astounding.

It may not effect gas prices but it will make a point that the general public can get there act together and have an effect.
supply and demand.
Who would have thought that the food chains would actually modify there product to make low carb food for folks on ther atkins diet.
If we made our point and one major gas company made a change and we bought there product the others would follow.

The only way that a gas boycott would work is if people parked their vehicles for a day, not just avoided the gas pumps until the next day. Otherwise, total demand for the week is the same as the week before.
The "Arkins diet for a day" is a fair analogy to a "gas boycott for one day". If you went on any diet for one day; what would it gain you? If you're really serious about lowering your weight, no matter how you choose to do it, it means you have to make some "permanent" changes to your eating habits and life style. And these "changes" you will have to make may not be desirable ones. Same thing for lowering of gas prices. Another point noted is that even though most are "grumbling" (including me) about the prices, we continue to fill up. So obviously the prices for us are not "too high" or we wouldn't be doing that. Sometimes some of us might forget that the objective of any business is to "make money". A such, most businesses will charge what the "market will bear". If you owned a Hardware Store and no one came in on May 19th; would you suddenly cut all your prices? When the market changes over time and it appears this change is "permanent", the businesses that survive, will also change. But not until then.
