Would you name your daughter Apple?

Apparently Gwyneth Paltrow would. I was just reading this on MSN where Gwynth Paltrow named her daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin. What kind of name is that for a girl. I can understand the Alison part, but not the Apple Blythe part. What was she thinking?

Where do they come up with these names for babies nowadays? Seems like more and more odd names out there, especially among the celebrities. Then that name suddenly becomes a hot name and everyone is doing it.

Would i name my child Apple...nope, i can imagine the razzing she will get in school.
Seems alot of "Hollywood" types go out on a limb with stuff like that. Alot of them don't live in the "real world" in my opinion.
Guess when you've got the BIG bucks, and fame, the world looks abit different.

When my wife was a young girl, she had the name of her future daughter all picked out.
'Candle Story Brooke'

When either of my two daughters give me any grief, I remind them of how I saved them from this name.

(Bertha and Bathsheba both thank me for it)

When I told my Wife about this, she asked:

"Was she named after the fruit or the computer?"

Hmm, she could have been name iPod Martin...

What a thing to do to your child..In a world that if your the least bit different your hounded, picked on and even killed over less that a name...Kids have killed themselves over the names put on them...I think to do that to your kid does not show much love..just remember Johnny Cash and a boy named Sue...

Celebrities seem to delight in giving their children off the wall names. Lets not forget: Frank Zappa--Moon Unit, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan, Dweezil and Diva...Demi Moore--Rumer Glenn, Scout LaRue and Tallulah Belle...Sylvester Stallone--Sage Moon Blood. Weird! Like the kids aren't going to have enough to deal with having famous parents

I still think if Gwyenth came up and said, "I want to have a baby with you and name it Apple", I would still have to say count me in.
And all the kid has to do is go by Alison.

FWIW, Gwyneth's mom is the actress Blythe Danner. Since the new baby's father is in the music industry, maybe 'Apple' was inspired by the Beatle's record label.

Everytime I hear an odd name, I remember my personal 'favorite': Brazen Chance Cyrus (Billy Ray's son).

Well...at least it's not as bad as some of the names I remember from the 60's....

People were naming their kids:

Free
Flower
Love
Spirit
Acid
Butterfly

etc, etc, etc.... you get the idea...
